Millie Bobby Brown dropped major clue before announcing she’s ‘welcomed baby girl’ with husband Jake Bongiovi

They surprised fans after announcing they welcomed a baby via adoption, but it seems the clues were there

Millie Bobby Brown surprised fans yesterday when she announced she had become a mum, having welcomed a ‘sweet baby girl’ through adoption.

"This summer, we welcomed our sweet baby girl through adoption," the Stranger Things star said in a joint statement with husband Jake Bongiovi.

"We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy.

"And then there were 3. Love, Millie and Jake Bongiovi."

While the news came as a shock to many fans, it seems she’s been dropping major clues for some time now.

Brown, 21, and Bongiovi, 23, tied the knot in a lavish ceremony last year, with their engagement prompting backlash from trolls who feared they were getting married too young.

Thankfully, it didn’t seem to bother the couple too much, who were merely following suit.

"His parents got married really young - they’re high school sweethearts,” Brown said of her partner’s parents on the Call Her Daddy podcast.

"My parents got married really young. They met when they were 19."

She explained: "So we had just, like, really young marriages. We had really great role models growing up, so we didn't see any different. We didn't get jaded by all the other stuff, you know?"

And it seems they had a similar approach to becoming parents themselves, with Brown opening up about the topic on the SmartLess podcast back in March – revealing she planned to be a young mum just like her own.

“My mom actually had her first child at 21, and my dad was 19,” she said.

“And you know, it's been my thing since before I met Jake.

“Since I was a baby, I told my mom, like, baby dolls. I wanted to be a mom just like the way my mom was to me. And my nan, my grandmother, was a huge part of my life."

As for adoption, it turns out the hints were there, too.

Elsewhere in the podcast, Brown told hosts Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Sean Hayes that she was very much open to the idea, having built a welcoming environment to everyone in her home.

“I don't see having your own child, you know, as really any different as in adopting,” she said.

"For me, like, my home is full of love for anyone and anything, and so that is what we stand by, Jake and I - our energy in the house is like, ‘The door is always open'.”

Earlier this year, she told Vanity Fair that, while she and Bongiovi were young, they had been sure to have the important conversations about the life they want together.

They discussed what 'kind of family' they wanted to build, the 'kind of home' they wanted to live in, as well as the relationship and careers they both were after.

"It's such an important decision, and we wanted to make sure we were making the right one," she said.

"I knew I was. It always felt right with him."
