Jake Bongiovi has divided fans after giving his wife, Millie Bobby Brown, a controversial new nickname.
The A-list couple secretly wed in 2024 at Villa Cetinale, a luxurious 17th-century Baroque estate in Tuscany, Italy, two years after a friendship they struck up on social media developed into something deeper.
And in August of last year, 22-year-old Brown announced that she and her husband had welcomed a baby girl together via adoption.
It seems the couple have gone from strength to strength in their parenthood journey, all while keeping their daughter's identity very private, and on Tuesday (9 June), the US actor showed his support for his wife by re-sharing a promotional post of Brown.
The couple adopted a daughter last year (Instagram/@milliebobbybrown) In the video, Stranger Things actress Brown is seen advertising the latest skincare addition to her much-loved Florence By Mills beauty line, sporting a chic 60s-style dress with a matching belt.
Giving her an encouraging shout-out in his own post, Bongiovi, 24, simply penned: "Baby mama!"
Unfortunately, Bongiovi's latest nickname for Brown hasn't gone down too well with a number of hard-faced social media users.
Many cruelly argued that 'baby mama' wasn't the appropriate term for the Enola Holmes star, being that she hadn't carried the child herself.
"What the f**k did u just call her?" one X user demanded.
Bongiovi referred to Brown as his 'baby mama' (Instagram/@jakebongiovi) "Acting like they didn’t get married and agree to adopt a daughter together, he never even got her pregnant," another added of Bongiovi. "He is literally the most childish man on earth I’m so sorry for her."
A third went on: "Imagine ur husband posting u like this….. … millie girl……"
"...that's his WIFE. wth," a fourth hit out.
Others, however, rightfully defended the young couple, pointing out that Brown technically is the 'mama' of Bongiovi's 'baby'.
"They adopted a child. Both have custody of it.. so basically she is his baby mama.. why are you all so mad oml," one wrote.
Another pleaded: "Ya'll really need to calm down it's getting embarrassing."
Brown recently got candid about motherhood (Instagram/@milliebobbybrown) "Well she is...his baby mama...it's not that deep bro," a third continued.
A fourth agreed: "They share custody of their adopted kid so she is his baby mama and everyone crying in the comments needs to relax."
Brown recently opened up about motherhood during a conversation with UNICEF, saying: "People say they love their children. I couldn’t - I don’t understand how that much happens in my heart. The feeling is so overwhelming. It’s just incomprehensible."
She went on to explain that raising a daughter is a 'real responsibility', adding: "I just try to learn as much as I can and feed it into her life so that she knows nothing other than girls supporting girls, or women succeeding, women achieving their dreams, and living in a world and building a world for her that isn’t unrealistic, but it sets a standard for her to know that she shouldn’t settle for anything less."
