It's been a rough week for Jake Bongiovi.
Not only did he come under fire from a pack of social media users for nicknaming his wife, Millie Bobby Brown, his 'baby mama', but he's also been freshly slammed as ungentlemanly over a series of viral photos.
Since the young couple adopted their first child, a daughter, back in August of last year, they've been papped together in a number of hotly debated positions. In almost every image, Brown, 22, is seen pushing their baby's colossal stroller, while Bongiovi stands idly beside her.
One snap in particular set tongues wagging online, showing the Stranger Things actress carrying her daughter in a car seat, while also managing several sizeable shopping bags and a handful of rucksacks.
Bonjiovi is regularly called out for not appearing to help Brown with their daughter's belongings (Instagram/@milliebobbybrown Despite the photos having been shared several months ago, much to 24-year-old Bongiovi's dismay, they frequently rear their ugly heads online and see the actor subjected to mass criticism.
Thousands of Brown fans called him out, claiming they'd 'never seen him carry anything'.
Thankfully, however, his other-half this week stepped in to defend him.
Appearing on Kylie Kelce's popular Not Gonna Lie podcast on Thursday (11 Jun), she defended her 'sweet' husband, telling viewers: "Hi, I'm Millie Bobbie Brown and I'm not gonna lie, when did women become incapable of holding their own bags, car seats and stuff?"
Elaborating for the sake of fans out of the loop, Brown continued: "This stems from me holding all of my suitcases and bags and my kid, and people are like, 'Your husband doesn't hold a single thing.'
Brown rushed to her husband's defence (Instagram/@milliebobbybrown) "Because I'm three miles ahead. I have been planning this all night."
The Enola Holmes star went on to note: "We're all about empowering girls and, 'You got it' and 'You don't need a man.' But then when I'm like, 'OK, I can carry my own things,' people are like, 'Where's your husband?'
"I can also do it on my own. Nobody knows my husband. My husband is the most polite, sweet, and will-do-anything-for-me. But he also knows I'm capable."
Brown's latest comments come just days after Bongiovi also came under fire for describing her as his 'baby mama' in a social media post.
The US model shared a video of British star Brown advertising the latest skincare addition to her much-loved Florence By Mills beauty line on his Instagram story, captioning the post "Baby mama!"
Bongiovi referred to Brown as his 'baby mama' (Instagram/@jakebongiovi) The description quickly sparked debate online, with some critics cruelly arguing that 'baby mama' wasn't the appropriate term for Brown star, being that she hadn't carried the child herself.
"What the f**k did u just call her?" one X user demanded.
"Acting like they didn’t get married and agree to adopt a daughter together, he never even got her pregnant," another added of Bongiovi. "He is literally the most childish man on earth. I’m so sorry for her."
Others, however, quickly defended the young couple, pointing out that Brown is the mother of Bongiovi's baby.
"They adopted a child. Both have custody of it.. so basically she is his baby mama.. why are you all so mad oml," one wrote.
Another pleaded: "Ya'll really need to calm down, it's getting embarrassing."
