Millie Bobby Brown reveals why she got married to Jake Bongiovi at such a young age

Millie Bobby Brown has revealed why she married Jake Bongiovi at 20 years old, describing him as her 'first love'.

The actress and the American model famously got married last summer in Italy, but Millie Bobby Brown has now revealed what prompted them to get hitched at such a young age.

Despite being just 20 when she became a wife, plenty of thought went into their marriage, according to the star.

Speaking to Alex Cooper on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Millie recalled the moment she realised she could 'actually see a future' with Jon Bon Jovi’s 22-year-old son.

When asked about the moment they started to contemplate getting engaged, the British actress said: "We’ve been together for four years, so I guess maybe when we moved in together."

She sweetly added: "We had dogs together, and we were taking care of our animals, and we started living this day-to-day life, and I thought, ‘Oh, I really don’t think I could ever see you as anything else. I don’t want to be with anyone else ever again. I don’t want to date, I don’t want to meet anyone, I want you'."

She also opened up about why they chose to make the big move so early in life, and it seems their influences growing up played a big part.

Speaking about her in laws, Millie said: "His parents got married really young - they’re high school sweethearts.

"My parents got married really young. They met when they were 19."

She explained: "So we had just, like, really young marriages. We had really great role models growing up, so we didn't see any different. We didn't get jaded by all the other stuff, you know?"

But it was actually more serious conversations about how they saw the world that led them to becoming life partners.

Millie noted: "When we started talking about politics and how we want to raise our kids…we started talking about really, really big things that I’d obviously never spoken about, and I’m already very young, so I’ve never spoken about that with boys anyway.

"I was like okay, maybe I do want to be with him forever."

But it wasn't completely obvious to the 21-year-old that her then-boyfriend felt the same way about their long-term future.

She added: "I obviously didn’t know if he felt that way.

"We talked about marriage, but I didn’t really know when it was going to be. And then, when he proposed, I was like, it makes sense. Everything aligned."

Speaking to Vanity Fair earlier this year, Millie described Jake as her first love.

She said: "It always felt right with him, he's is the first man I ever loved and been in love with."
