Dawson's Creek star Katie Holmes has reacted to fan theories and hopes about a potential romance with her co-star, Joshua Jackson.
Katie played Joey and Joshua played Pacey in the hit teen drama, and had both recently been mourning the loss of the lead actor, James Van Der Beek.
The pair did date between 1998 and 1999, much to the delight of fans, but it sadly wasn't to be.
Joshua went on to marry model and actress Jodie Turner-Smith in 2019, before splitting in 2023.

They share one daughter together, called Juno, while Katie married Tom Cruise in 2006 before splitting in 2012, and the former couple share a daughter, Suri.
Despite the years passing, many viewers still hope that Katie and Joshua will get back together, and they have been working on a new film.

Called Happy Hours, Katie shared an adorable photo of the pair celebrating their reunion for the project.
The professional photo of the pair features Katie embracing Jackson, captioned “We are so thrilled to be a part of the Tribeca Film Festival this June with our film Happy Hours. So many beautiful people worked on this project. And working with Josh again was a dream.”
Eagle-eyed fans have noticed a subtle reaction from Katie to many of the hopeful comments left by fans.
The star has gone through 'liking' all of the hopeful remarks that were wishing they were an item in real life.
“They should be a couple,” wrote one , while another fan wished the post 'was a hard launch' for real rather than a promo pic.
"Please get married in real life and heal our millennial hearts," begged another, as someone echoed: "This is the marriage that should have happened in real life."
The pair worked together on Dawson's Creek despite their split, until the show ended in 2003, and remained friends ever since.
Hopes were first raised when they walked the red carpet together for a screening of Brunello: The Gracious Visionary earlier this month.
Their new project, Happy Hours, is reportedly a drama that tells the tale of two exes reuniting 'years after their relationship ended without closure'.
Fans are hoping that fiction will become reality, and noted that Katie wrote, directed and starred in the film and chose Joshua to star opposite her.
Joshua raved on the Today show about his co-star: “Katie wrote this beautiful story for the two of us, there are these people in your life — she's a lifelong friend now — and for us to be able to go back and do this again, and, honestly, for her to be able to create that space for us was kind of magical.”
