If there’s one person you do no want to mess with, even if you’re a big TV star, it’s someone's mother.

And the mum of a I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! contestant has made her feelings known about how her son is being treated - in particular by host Ant McPartlin.

To everyone watching the ITV show, it's very clear that Dean McCullough has become the public's favourite to put through the Bushtucker Trials - so much so that viewers have demanded a rule change when it comes to voting.

Even Ant has issued a 'serious' plea to voters to pick someone else, adding: "This is not a personal thing, it's not about Dean. It's about us just seeing different people down there."

While Dean's been a champ and attempted to do his Bushtucker Trials, there have been some 'spats' between him and Ant, which viewers claim to have picked up on.

Ant and Dec also admitted that they were seriously 'disappointed' in the 32-year-old ending his trials twice in a row when he yelled out 'I'm a celebrity, get me out of here'.

However, Ant later said on I'm A Celebrity Unpacked that he wasn't 'happy' with his 'unprofessional' behaviour towards Dean following the trials.

"My annoyance came across on screen and I was quite unprofessional and I’m not happy about it." he said. "You get to the point where you’re like 'What are you doing?'"

He later added that he'd be 'kinder' to him as he faced his fourth trial: "I’m going to try good cop today."

But Dean’s mum, Ann, isn’t happy about her son’s treatment.

The 55-year-old told the Daily Mail that she’s going to 'have a word' with Ant after all has been said and done.

She said: “I think Ant’s been a wee bit hard on him. I’m going to have to have a word with Ant about that later.”

She then said it was ‘awful’ watching her son on the show after he’d had ‘such a hard few years’.

Ann explained: “It’s hard to watch him do the Trials. I had him warned though, there’s nothing in that Jungle that’s going to kill you, do it, just get over yourself do it.

“The moments he shouted I’m A Celebrity were the ones I was hiding behind a cushion. Me and the two dogs begging, ‘Don’t say the words, please don’t say the words’.”

But it’s not all doom and gloom as she thinks she’s cracked why he keeps being chosen.

She said he’s ‘good to look at, is good fun and is enjoying every single minute of it’ and his veneers were ‘designed to chew down on cockroaches and bugs’.

Ann also spoke about the heated exchange between Dean and Corrie star, Alan Halsall, adding: "That was hard to watch.

"But Alan didn't really give him much time to wake up, did he? He just didn't give him enough time, another couple of seconds and he would have been grand."
