We don't need to tell you that Friends fans are a passionate bunch. They have a favourite quote, a favourite episode and a favourite character etched in their minds, and they won't hear anybody tell them otherwise.
With this in mind, we have some news which is sure to ruffle a few feathers. It turns out Ross Geller is officially the top rated character in the show.
Yep, the stats don't lie...

This was calculated by the team at money.co.uk, who looked through IMDb to find the best rated Friends episodes, and then sought to discover the lead character in each of them.
They did this by working out who had the most dialogue in each of the top rated eps.
And guess what? Ross came top. We love him, but we always thought he was the least exciting out of all the characters, and there are many fans who weren't too happy with how he treated Rachel throughout the series, so we're sure this is going to raise some eyebrows...

Out of a total of twenty nine episodes that scored 9 and above on IMDb, Ross took the lead in over one third of them (11/29).
The most popular episode in which Ross starred was The One With The Prom Video, where Rachel and Ross were each other's "lobsters".
The episode scored 9.4/10 on IMDb, and is fans' joint fifth favourite in the whole series.
Perhaps less surprisingly, Rachel Green was labelled the second best rated Friends character. Rachel stars as the main character in almost one quarter (7/29) of fans' favourite episodes.

The top Rachel episode is the final ever episode, The Last One: Part 2 - you know: "I got off the plane"
This isn't surprising, really, given that there were tears aplenty when this one aired...
As for the least rated Friends character? Well, that's Chandler Bing, apparently.
Despite being the joker of the group, Chandler obviously didn't bring enough to the table to bag the main part in any top scoring episodes.

In fact, he starred as the main character in just one of the top rated episodes, The One with Chandler In a Box.
Anyone else absolutely shook by these results?
