Salma Hayek praised by fans as she proudly shows off 'white hairs and wrinkles'

The actor has been hailed as an 'inspiration' and 'a real natural human being'

Salma Hayek has received an outpouring of support after she got candid about ageing on social media.

The actor, 56, is known for her stunning complexion and age-defying beauty.

In fact, fans often assume that the House of Gucci star is a lot younger than her age suggests, and we can see why.

Earlier this year, the 56-year-old revealed her hack to maintaining a youthful glow was not washing her face first thing in the morning.

She told British GQ: "My grandmother taught me to never wash my face in the morning. It's not disgusting guys.

“What happens at night is your skin produces all the oils that your skin needs to look youthful. It regenerates. So, wash your skin really great at night but don't wash the hard work off your skin in the morning.”

Now, Hayek has opened up about ageing by posting an unfiltered portrait on her Instagram.

Yesterday (6 June), the actor shared a close-up no makeup selfie with her 24 million followers.

In the caption, she wrote: “Me waking up and counting how many white hairs and wrinkles have crashed the party this morning."

Following the post, fans have applauded Hayek for her candidness, and for highlighting the fact that even the rich and famous experience the realities of getting older.

One commented: “Thank you for sharing! It helps all of to see that even the most beautiful and famous also age”.

Another said: “No matter the age, you got a golden soul. Everyday I thank God for giving me the opportunity to be a fan of yours, you make my life more and more better.”

While a third added: "Don’t you worry about these little things, it’s part of getting old and wiser. Embrace it! Or there’s always hair dye and Botox. Beautiful woman."

Hayek has previously discussed her experiences of growing older in the public eye.

In an interview with Glamour magazine in February, she said: “I thought getting older meant I wasn't going to work. I'm working. I thought getting older maybe meant that you're not in love anymore. I'm in love.

“I don't feel that I lost my flexibility or my agility or even my strength... Hell, I'm still going.

“Shocker. I'm still here. They tried to get rid of me a thousand ways. I'm still here.”

The 'love' which Hayek referenced is her French businessman husband, Francois-Henri Pinault, 61.

The pair started dating in 2006 before getting engaged and welcoming their only daughter, Valentina Paloma, a year later.

In 2009, Hayek and Pinault tied the knot on Valentine’s Day.
