Martha Stewart has reflected on Meghan Markle’s ‘hard’ career transitions as she issued advice on her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan.
The American businesswoman and TV personality, 85, revealed to PEOPLE Magazine that she had recently had dinner with the Duchess of Sussex, after her trip overseas to Highgrove House to meet with King Charles III.
Stewart told the outlet: “I had dinner with Meghan Markle the other night. We were both guests at a dinner party in California. And she had just gotten back from the palace.”
She added: “I didn’t talk to her really more than to say a couple words, but I know she was talking about it.”

Last month, Meghan joined her husband Prince Harry and her children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet for a private meeting at Highgrove House with the King, marking the first time the monarch had seen his grandchildren in years.

Stewart was then quizzed on what she makes of the Duchess ‘stepping into her space’ with her own cooking TV show.
She bluntly responded: “If you’re an actress, it’s hard to then transition to a princess and then from a princess into a homemaking guru on a television show. It doesn’t sort of follow. So go from there.”
For context, Stewart has hosted multiple iconic cooking and lifestyle series over the decades, such as The Martha Stewart Show, Martha Stewart Living, and Martha Stewart's Cooking School.
Meghan made a name for herself in the space more recently, after having to make quite a few career pivots.
As Stewart pointed out, it can’t have been easy going from a successful acting career with a prominent role on Suits, to a member of the Royal Family, and now turning to her own business ventures.
Through her company with Harry, Archwell Productions, the royal duo have secured a multi-year deal with Netflix, through which they’ve released their documentary Harry & Meghan in December 2022, and Meghan’s show With Love, Meghan, which premiered on Netflix on March 4, 2025.

The TV show sees Meghan invite friends and famous guests to a California estate, where she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips.
Meghan has also launched a successful lifestyle brand called As Ever.
Her debut collection, which flew off the shelves, included a slew of store cupboard goodies such as flower sprinkles, raspberry jam, honey, crepe and cookie mixes, and an assortment of different teas.
She also launched a seasonal Christmas range, which featured a 'Spiced Cider Mulling Spice Kit' ($16) and two candles, priced at $64 each.
