Tom Holland and Zendaya were given warning about dating each other in 2017
A Spider-Man producer has revealed that she warned Zendaya and Tom Holland about dating each other after they were cast together in the Marvel franchise.
Speaking to Variety on the red carpet for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Amy Pascal, 68, revealed she didn’t think the duo would get married when she issued them with the stern advice, almost a decade ago.
She joked: “I say this to all of them and no-one ever listens to me,” before sweetly adding: “I think they’re pretty happy together.”
The producer previously shared in a 2021 interview with The New York Times that she ‘took Tom and Zendaya aside, separately, when we first cast them and gave them a lecture. Don’t go there - just don’t. Try not to’.

She admitted: “I gave the same advice to Andrew [Garfield] and Emma [Stone]. It can just complicate things, you know? And they all ignored me.”
Thankfully for Zendaya and Tom, completely disregarding the advice has landed them married, so maybe it’s okay to break the rules sometimes.
The A-List couple first met in 2016 on the set of Spider-Man: Homecoming, where, reportedly, they instantly hit it off and became friends.
Over the next few years, rumours instantly began swirling, but the pair continuously denied any romance between them, until in 2021 they were papped smooching in a car - and the world lost its mind.
On Zendaya’s 25th birthday, the pair went Instagram official, as Tom shared an adorable behind-the-scenes Spider-Man selfie, with the caption: “My MJ, have the happiest of birthdays, Gimme a call when your up xxx.”
They got engaged in late 2024, before tying the knot in an intimate wedding ceremony earlier this year, which was reportedly followed up by a large, celebrity-filled bash this week.
The celebrations reportedly cost £50,000, were three days long and took place at the Beaverbrook estate in Surrey, England, with guests including Timothée Chalamet, Kylie Jenner, and Robert Downey Jr.
A source told The Sun: “The ceremony was so beautiful and romantic.
“Tom and Zendaya aced their speeches as well - they were both very funny but also very emotional.
“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house. They’re incredibly hard-working and lovely people, and this stunning wedding has capped off an amazing year for them.”
Marvel fans will also know that Tom and Zendaya aren’t the only couple to have met on those movie sets - there must seriously be something in the air.
Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone dated for about four years after meeting on the set of The Amazing Spider-Man in 2010, while OG Spider-Man Tobey Maguire also dated his co-star Kirsten Dunst, but split the next year, remaining friends.

Apparently, producer Amy Pascal warned them not to date, after every other Spider-Man leading man and lady (Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone) ended up falling for each other off-screen.
Pascal later told the New York Times: “I took Tom and Zendaya aside, separately, when we first cast them and gave them a lecture.

Later that year, the pair start popping up on each other’s Instagram feeds.
