Good Morning Britain: Susanna Reid Forced To Apologise After Asking Lesbian Couple Awkward Fertility Question

Susanna Reid is a top-notch journalist – but she made an unfortunate slip up on today’s Good Morning Britain.

The most recent edition of the show saw the host ask a poorly worded question about motherhood to influencers and happy couple Megan, 34, and 33-year-old Whitney Bacon-Evan.

The pair, who have been married for four years, and together for a total of 13, are fighting to make it easier for LGBTQ+ couples to start a family through the NHS - and are considering suing the taxpayer-funded service for their ‘discriminatory’ policies on the IVF and fertility.

After Susanna's hastily worded question, Megan quickly replied: “Well, we both want to be mum.”

Quickly realising her error, Susanna was fast to make amends.

“You’ll both be mum, of course!” she said hurriedly. “I apologise for that insensitivity. Who wants to carry the baby?”

However, the couple did not appear to be too offended, and quickly laughed.

The pair appeared on ITV’s morning breakfast TV show to bring attention to the inequality of the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group Frimley's fertility policy.

The couple would have to endure 12 rounds of expensive treatment before being able to qualify for the NHS.

However, according to calculations made by Megan and Whitney, they estimates the cost of having a child as a same-sex couple, or as a single woman, to be as high as £50,000.

In response, a spokesperson for NHS Frimley CCG said: "The fertility services we provide are based on NICE guidance.

"While we can't comment on individual cases we will fully engage with any legal proceedings."

In other GMB news, things got a little silly yesterday, as Martin Lewis joined Susanna on the panel for a week.

The money-saving expert started off his presenting tenure on the programme by ‘farting’ by his co-host.

You can see more about that here.
