People Shocked By Price Of Apple's New Polishing Cloth

People Shocked By Price Of Apple's New Polishing Cloth

Sorry, HOW MUCH?!

Buying an iPhone doesn't come cheap, but what if we told you that a cloth to wipe down the screen would cost just shy of £20?

Yep, the technology giant unveiled an Apple-branded "polishing cloth" for £19 - and, honestly, at that price we'd expect it to be made out of gold.

According to a blurb from Apple itself, the cloth is "made with soft, nonabrasive material," and "cleans any Apple display, including nano-texture glass, safely and effectively".

Apple goes on to list every device that the cloth is compatible with - in case you were worried that each glass screen needs its very own specifically tailored piece of material.

And you may laugh, but for some reason any iPhones older than the iPhone 6 aren't listed as compatible. Better get a new phone, then, eh?

It sounds like a parody, but Apple actually does warn users not to stray to cheaper alternatives.

In Apple’s Pro Display XDR support articles, there's a warning against cleaning the screen with a non-Apple cloth, in case the screen gets damaged.

Despite this, let's just say some people aren't sold.

Reacting to the polishing cloth launch online, it's safe to say that people had a lot of opinions.

Twitter

"Disappointed that the month isn't April, and this isn't a joke," one person wrote on Twitter. "#Apple branded polishing cloth for $20 anyone?"

Meanwhile, another simply shared a list of all the - ahem - 'compatible' devices, and wrote: "What?!"

"For a premium wiping experience, please only use the $19 Apple Polishing Cloth on compatible Apple™ products," a third joked.

A fourth penned: "Peak capitalism might be this $19 Apple polishing cloth".

"If you search 'daylight robbery' in google, it comes up with the new apple polishing cloth," teased somebody else.

If you don't mind, we think we'll just risk using a normal cloth...
