McDonald's Reveals List Of Drive-Thrus Opening Today

McDonald's fans, rejoice! The fast food chain is opening a further 261 Drive-Thrus today across the UK and Ireland with another eight available for McDelivery.

This includes 32 in Yorkshire and 17 in Manchester. The news comes as part of the chain's staged reopening, which saw a further 497 restaurants reopen yesterday for Drive Thru.

At the beginning of the week, McDonald's announced it would be relaunching 1,019 of its 1,249 restaurants between Tuesday 2nd and Thursday 4th June.

Good news for those of us who have been craving nuggets non-stop for the last three months...

Of course, things are set to look a little different in the COVID-19 era, with McDonald's implementing a number of changes to make sure staff and customers are as safe as possible.

"We are glad to be back but it will look a little different and may take a little longer, so please bear with us," the chain explained.

There will be fewer employees in the kitchens (this is to enable teams to effectively social distance), meanwhile a limited menu will also operate (this means no breakfast or shakes for the moment) and the Drive-Thrus will be open for reduced hours (11am-10pm).

Added to this, contactless payments are encouraged and spending will be capped at £25. You can also browse the menu, order and pay ahead using the My McDonald's App. The kitchen will start preparing your order when you're nearby.

"This is only possible following the hard work of the teams in our 44 pilot restaurants," said a McDonald's spokesperson.

"Over the last fortnight, our employees, franchisees and suppliers have worked tirelessly to implement new procedures to enable safe working so that we can now help all parts of the UK and Ireland to enjoy the return of the Big Mac."
