Fantastic news for Burger King fans! The fast food chain has set out plans to re-open one restaurant in every city by 31st May, so that we can all get our fix despite social distancing measures.

The chain has already begun to gradually reopen a small number of its branches, offering a limited menu which is only available via delivery in four of its 550 branches so far.

But it has now announced it will re-open another eight for delivery only from Wednesday 29th April, as it ramps up its plans to get back up and running amid the coronavirus pandemic.

These branches will be found in Dundee, Aberdeen, Reading, Hillington, Southampton, Merton, Springfield Quay and Havant, and will be open from 12 - 11pm for customers to place their orders via Deliveroo and Just Eat only.

The Havant chain, in Hampshire, will also be the first to trial a new Drive Thru facility, which will hopefully make it easier for customers to get their burger fix while keeping a safe distance from both the servers and other customers.

If this is a success, Burger King will look at rolling it out in further branches.

The eight new branches come as the fast food giant has already opened up shop again in Bristol (Bath Road and Eastgate) Coventry and Swindon.

In addition to these eight new openings, Burger King plans to open a further 12 restaurants over the following consecutive weeks, in order to fill out every city.

The fast food giant has promised that despite beginning to re-open, safety remains its "number one priority".

"A number of procedures have been put in place to safeguard the health of both Burger King employees and customers," they said.

"These include additional PPE such as masks and gloves for staff, stringent cleaning measures, contactless delivery options via Deliveroo and Just Eat and all Burger King staff comprehensively trained on the Government's social distancing measures - including how to run kitchens hygienically, whilst abiding by them."

We're so happy we'll soon be able to tuck into a Whopper again.
