Princess Eugenie's newborn baby girl changes the line of succession to the throne
A new royal baby has been born, and the British line of succession has once again been shaken up.
On Monday (3 August), Princess Eugenie, 36, welcomed her third child with her husband, Jack Brooksbank, 40, a baby girl.
The couple, who already share two sons, August, five, and Ernest, three, announced the news in a sweet Instagram post, writing that they are ‘beyond in love with our girlie’.
The baby girl, who weighed 6lb 9oz, was born at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal, where her parents have a home and other connections.

Eugenie and Jack have yet to reveal the little one’s name, with fans already throwing in their guesses on what the moniker would be.
One thing that is for certain, though, is her place in the line of succession, with ‘baby girl Brooksbank’ set to be 15th.
Although Eugenie’s children don’t have royal titles, they’re still included in the line of succession, with the newest addition following her brothers.
For those who aren’t familiar, the British royal line of succession is simply the ranked order of family members eligible to inherit the throne, which is currently ruled by King Charles III.
As reported by PEOPLE Magazine, the birth of Eugenie’s baby girl means that her uncle, Prince Edward, who is the youngest son of Queen Elizabeth, gets bumped down to 16th, as do his children, Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor, and James Mountbatten-Windsor.
Princess Anne, as well as her children Peter Phillips and Zara Tindall, and grandchildren, have also been shuffled down.
Princess Eugenie is currently in the 12th spot, while Beatrice is ninth, followed by her two children, Sienna and Athena.
We all know by now that Prince William, the King's eldest son, is first in line to the throne, followed by his children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.
Next up is Prince Harry, as well as his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.
Eugenie’s new arrival is the fifth grandchild of the former Duke and Duchess of York, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, after the birth of Princess Beatrice’s daughter, Athena, in January last year.
The little girl is also the 15th great-grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II, and the third to be born since her death in September 2022.
Currently, Andrew, the King's disgraced brother, remains eighth in line to the throne despite being stripped of his titles following pressure over his links to Jeffrey Epstein. He's not formally accused of any wrongdoing.
In a statement announcing the birth of Eugenie’s baby, Buckingham Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.
“The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
