Reason why Princess Eugenie might not have named baby girl, according to royal expert
A British Royal Family expert has outlined the interesting reason why Princess Eugenie might have chosen not to reveal her newborn baby’s name.
Eugenie, 36, announced on Instagram on Tuesday (4 August) that she and her husband Jack Brooksbank, 40, had welcomed their third child, a baby girl.
They shared a sweet photo of the little one in a pink onesie, while Buckingham Palace released a statement announcing she was born in Lisbon, Portugal, where the couple have connections and spent a lot of time.
So far though, there’s been no hint of a name, and they’ve only referred to the newborn as ‘Baby Girl Brooksbank,’ causing fans to go wild with guesses.

Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter previously told Town & Country that the reasoning behind the decision could be ‘two-fold’.
She explained to the publication: “On one hand there's a desire to inform the families before a public declaration is made and any new parent appreciates having a little private time to get to know their new addition before the onslaught of announcements.”
The expert added: “Royals, however, also have to consider the great responsibility in naming a new member of the family, and I expect they want to be a hundred percent certain of their choice before announcing the name and sealing the baby's place in history.”
Essentially, as a member of the Royal Family, you can’t really announce your baby’s name and then change your mind and go back on it - once it’s out there, it’s out there.
It’s not just Princess Eugenie that’s gone down this route, as Prince William and Kate Middleton only announced both Prince George and Princess Charlotte's names two days after they were born.
This is quite soon, though, compared to King Charles III and his late ex-wife Princess Diana, who waited an entire week to announce William’s name, as per the outlet.
Not to mention that it took Queen Elizabeth II a whole month to share the moniker of Charles back in 1948.
Eugenie and Jack already share two sons, August, five, and Ernest, three, with their newest addition being their first daughter.
In a statement, Buckingham Palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie and Mr Jack Brooksbank are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, born on Monday, 3rd August 2026, at 6.20pm, at a hospital in Lisbon, Portugal.
“The baby was born weighing 6 pounds 9 ounces. Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family were delighted to be informed of the news.”
The new arrival is the fifth grandchild of the former Duke and Duchess of York, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and Sarah Ferguson, following the birth of Princess Beatrice’s daughter Athena Mapelli Mozzi in January last year.
