Emotional hidden meaning behind Prince George’s ‘hair flick’ during royal appearance you probably missed

A body language expert has shared her insights into the brotherly exchange during the VE Day parade on Monday (5 May)

A body language expert has revealed the emotional hidden meaning behind Prince George's 'hair flick' during his royal appearance you probably missed.

The likes of Prince William and Kate Middleton - along with their three children George, 11, Princess Charlotte, 10, and seven-year-old Louis - gathered for the VE Day parade yesterday (5 May), and many royal fans were overjoyed to see the Wales out and about as a family again.

All eyes were on little Louis, however, especially after his iconic reaction to his older brother fixing his hair.

In case you missed it, George was seen running his fingers through his locks to move it out of his face, only for Louis to then appear to mimic him, with an obvious display of exaggeration.

Speaking on behalf of Big Fat Links, Inbaal Honigman explained: "Just ahead of the little hair instance, it’s apparent that Prince Louis is looking for something or someone to have fun with.

"As he looks to the side, his tongue is in his cheek. This is a cheeky gesture that suggests he’s looking for a game."

And then, as we know, the perfect opportunity for a bit of a laugh presented itself.

"When Prince George flicks his hair, the younger sibling doesn’t miss a beat in copying him," the expert noted. "Copying behaviour is very common in siblings when they look up to the older brother and take their behavioural cues from them.

"The fact that Prince Louis decides to turn his brother’s grooming gesture into a little game shows that they have a strong bond, where the younger brother can safely make fun of the older brother and not worry that he might get into trouble."

Inbaal also shared that 'each hair flick is very different', adding the emotional hidden meaning behind the gesture: "Prince George pats his hair as a grooming gesture. He feels that he is in a responsible position and playing with his hair is a way of showing that he would like to be liked, and he would like to be appreciated."

Louis, however, totally stole the show with his mimicry.

"Louis’ is completely different as it comes with a jaunty flare and a slight eyeroll, letting us know that he is making fun," the body language expert pointed out, noting that the two brothers' responses 'differ' after the hair flick.

She concluded: "George stares at the younger offended wordlessly and directly, but Prince Louis looks away pointedly, refusing to meet the eye of the heir to the throne. He knows he may have overstepped the mark.

"The fact that they two can be playful with each other, even on such a serious occasion shows that they share a bond of trust."
