The Simpsons writer who predicted Donald Trump’s presidency has made yet another 'prophecy' about what’s going to happen next.
Now, as many fans of the long-running cartoon sitcom will know, the weird and wonderful minds behind The Simpsons have seemingly developed a bit of a knack for 'predicting' the future.
Let's see, there was the instance of one character likened to Elon Musk, the choosing of an American pope, Kamala Harris' potential presidency and, arguably, the most famous of all, the Donald Trump presidency, which came in season 11’s episode titled 'Bart to the Future'.
The episode depicts Lisa as the latest US president, wearing a sharp purple suit as she tells her cabinet that they’ve 'inherited quite the budget crunch from President Trump'.
Dan Greaney, who wrote The Simpsons episode which predicted Trump's presidency, has shared his latest 'prophecy' (Instagram/@dangreaneyusa) It was initially a reference to his attempt to run as a candidate for the Reform Party, but became eerily relevant when Trump ended up landing the presidential role in 2016 as part of the Republican Party.
In an initial video posted to his 45.4k followers on Instagram, the episode writer explained: "Hi, I'm Dan Greaney. I'm best known as the writer of the episode of The Simpsons that predicted the Trump presidency 16 years before it happened.
The writer reckons the 'end is near for the Trump presidency' (Disney) "I don't know how I see the future. I'm not a scientist. I'm a prophet. In that episode, I hinted that the Trump administration had failed, leaving President Lisa Simpson to pick up the pieces."
He continued: "I now have a shocking new prediction. The end is near for the Trump presidency. It will happen in spectacular fashion. His fall will be unambiguous and universally acknowledged. He'll be removed from office.
"It's risky to put a date on it, but I have to call it like I foresee it. So I'm going to say by the end of the year. And we will move on as a nation and people, united. Didn't see that coming."
In a follow-up video posted earlier this summer (1 July), Greaney went on: "Last week, I shared my prophecy about Trump's fall. The question I got most was, 'What happens next?'
"I don't know who the next president will be. I'm not an expert in constitutional succession of authority. I'm a prophet."
The tongue-in-cheek clip then transitioned to show Greaney donning a costume of a grey wig and big and robes.
"And I have seen who WON'T be president next," the writer theorised. "JD Vance or anyone else in Trump's inner circle. They rose with him. and they'll fall with him."
"And as for JD, he'll be tossed out like an old, well, you know," as the camera panned to a pretty beaten-up sofa.
Well, while Greaney has a proven track record of 'predicting' Trump's political trajectory, it's clear that only time will tell if his latest 'prophecy' will prove true...
