Melania Trump has reportedly spent less than 14 days in the White House since her husband Donald Trump was inaugurated for his second term, and one journalist has a bombshell theory over why the first lady has seemingly vanished from the public.

Trump's second term at the helm of the White House has been chaotic, to say the least, but against the backdrop of global trade wars, non-stop executive orders and crazy AI-generated images is the one burning question on everyone's minds: where the hell is Melania Trump?

Melania has become one of the most low-profile first ladies in recent memory, having only been spotted a handful of times since her husband settled back into the Oval Office in January, and speculation has been mounting over her whereabouts.

One of her most recent official appearances was at Pope Francis' funeral, which itself saw the Trumps marred with controversy as the US president faced backlash over his outfit choice and for apparently catching a few z's during the event.

Melania has also be batting off wild body double conspiracy theories for years, which have only ramped up of late thanks to her apparent scaling back of public appearances during her husband's second term.

But one journalist - who has previously ruffled the president's feathers with his claims - reckons he holds the answer for why Melania is rarely seen out and about anymore.

The Times has reported that Melania hasn't really been at the White House at all, instead opting to shack up in homes in New York and Mar-a-Lago in Florida, but journo and biographer Michael Wolff thinks there's more to it than meets the eye as he made a bombshell claim about their marriage.

Speaking this week's episode of The Daily Beast Podcast, Wolff - who the White House has previous branded a 'lying sack of sh*t' and 'a fraud' - alluded to there being trouble in paradise.

"They clearly do not in any way inhabit a marriage as we define marriage," he claimed, branding Melania's apparent disappearance as 'head smacking'.

"I think maybe we can more specifically say they live separate lives. They are separated. The president of the United States and the first lady are separated.

"The American public has been sold a bill of goods here that, you know, Donald Trump and his glamorous wife. That runs entirely counter to all of the facts here, including the fact that they don’t spend any time together."

In response to previous reports about Melania's lack of presence at the White House, officials said that while they can't disclose the specific amount of time she's spent there since January, she is there more often than the public is aware of.

In fact, her living arrangements have been something Melania has spoken about publicly in the past.

In an interview with Fox News that aired in January, Melania opened up about her and son Barron's living arrangements.

She explained that she and her son would be splitting their time between Washington DC, New York City, and Palm Beach in Florida over the next four years of her husband's presidency.

When asked where she'll be spending the most time following Trump's inauguration, Melania revealed: "I will be in the White House. And when I need to be in New York, I will be in New York.

"When I need to be in Palm Beach, I will be in Palm Beach. My first priority is to be a mum, to be a First Lady, to be a wife."
