Donald Trump has sparked outrage yet again, as viral videos circulating from the funeral for Pope Francis apparently show him sleeping

The late pontiff died aged 88 on Easter Monday (April 21), and world leaders and Cardinals gathered from around the world on Saturday to pay their respects.

The US president attended alongside his wife, First Lady Melania Trump. Prince William, Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and French president Emmanuel Macron were also among those who gathered in St Peter’s Square for the funeral.

Some viewers claim to have spotted Trump 'falling asleep' due to pictures in which his eyes seem to be closed were shared on social media.

"Donald Trump is a disgrace. Going to sleep at the Pope's funeral," one outraged viewer shared.

Another criticism people had was Trump's suit, as every other mourner appeared to be sporting black in line with expectations, but the POTUS opted to wear a blue suit.

Trump’s outfit quickly became a major talking point during the funeral broadcast on Saturday, as some viewers perceived the controversial leader’s choice to be a sign of disrespect.

One account on X (formerly Twitter) asked: “Any reason why Donald Trump is in a blue suit and not wearing traditional black for a funeral?"

A person commented: "Watching the funeral on BBC News. Trump is in a blue suit when everyone else is in black. No class."

A third wrote: "Why is Trump wearing a blue suit while everyone else is in black? No respect."

“Trump did not even have the decency to wear a black tie, and he wore a blue suit," one viewer tweeted. "No respect!!”

However, Trump was not the only man who chose to wear a blue suit, as Prince William also wore blue clothes. Zelenskyy opted for black military attire.

The dress code for the funeral, which took place at St. Peter's Square in Vatican City, mandated that men wear a dark suit, paired with a black tie and a black button on the left lapel.

Women were mandated to wear long black dresses, gloves, and a veil.

Trump did appear to go against the request for a black tie by wearing a blue tie. Prince William was dressed in a blue suit with a black tie.

Pope Francis was buried in Rome's Basilica of St. Mary Major in a plain wooden coffin lined with zinc, as opposed to three separate tapered hexagonal boxes made from cypress, lead, and elm.

Trump previously triggered outrage by addressing the Pope's death while on a balcony alongside the Easter Bunny. He also shared a post on his platform Truth Social expressing his excitement about attending.

"Melania and I will be going to the funeral of Pope Francis, in Rome. We look forward to being there!" Trump said.

People were understandably shocked by the odd comment, with one person writing: "Who looks forward to going to a funeral? What a vile thing to say."
