Donald Trump has penned a furious rant about his nemesis Elon Musk, calling his former pal a ‘train wreck’ and saying he’s gone ‘completely off the rails’ in a scathing new post.
The American president, 79, took to his own social media platform, Truth Social, on Sunday (6 July) to issue a very long-winded message aimed at the Tesla boss, 54,
But first, for those not up to speed with the love-hate relationship between the powerful pair, here’s some background on the falling out.
It all began when Musk officially stepped down as the frontman of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) back in May after the 130-day limit for his time in the role ended.

Speculation about a 'break-up' quickly emerged and the duo have since been publicly hitting out at each other after things turned sour.
We even saw Musk call Trump's 'big, beautiful bill' a 'disgusting abomination', as well as threatening to 'fire all politicians' who sided with it, before announcing his plans to create his own political party.

That’s right - over the weekend, Musk revealed he’s setting up the ‘America Party’ as a third political party to challenge Republicans and Democrats.

And it looks like his bold plans seem to have rattled Trump.
Not afraid to mince his words, the Republican leader wrote in his latest post: “I am saddened to watch Elon Musk go completely 'off the rails', essentially becoming a TRAIN WRECK over the past five weeks.
“He even wants to start a Third Political Party, despite the fact that they have never succeeded in the United States - The System seems not designed for them.”
He continued: “The one thing Third Parties are good for is the creation of Complete and Total DISRUPTION & CHAOS, and we have enough of that with the Radical Left Democrats, who have lost their confidence and their minds!”

Trump went on to fire some praise towards himself and his party, calling the Republicans a ‘smooth-running machine’.

He referenced how the ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ ended federal tax incentives for electric vehicles.

The president took aim at Musk’s push for an EV mandate, claiming he opposed it from the beginning as it would have ‘forced everyone to buy an electric car in a short period of time’.
In the post, Trump boasted: “People are now allowed to buy whatever they want - Gasoline Powered, Hybrids (which are doing very well), or New Technologies as they come about - No more EV Mandate."
He also claimed that Musk initially told him he had ‘no problems’ with him terminating the mandate.
Trump continued: “Additionally, Elon asked that one of his close friends run NASA and, while I thought his friend was very good, I was surprised to learn that he was a blue blooded Democrat, who had never contributed to a Republican before.”

He added: “Elon probably was, also. I also thought it inappropriate that a very close friend of Elon, who was in the Space Business, run NASA, when NASA is such a big part of Elon’s corporate life.”

Finally, the President signed off with: “My Number One charge is to protect the American Public!”
However, as expected, some people online have taken issue with the rant, unhappy with the fact the president is publicly bickering online.
One baffled X (formerly Twitter) user wrote: “It’s absolutely insane to me that a PRESIDENT interacts with s**t like this, I can’t comprehend how someone who acts like a teenager is calling the shots in this country.”
Meanwhile, a second penned: “Something so f**ked about watching the leader of your country bicker with their ex bf on social media, alienate at least half of the population of the country they’re supposed to be serving, and getting the update for all of it via popbase.”
Others took a more lighthearted approach and joked: “Me on my spam ranting about my ex” and “You think I'm reading all that??”
Someone else added: “This reads as if it was written by a teenager lmao,” with another user penning: “One of the messiest public breakups in history lol.”
