Everything seemed to be going wrong for Donald Trump as he attended the annual United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York today (23 September).
And it's hilariously got everyone making the same joke.
The United States president, 79, addressed the assembly for the first time since the beginning of his second term in January.

During his speech, he renewed his feud with London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan, calling him a 'terrible, terrible mayor', as well as attacking UN assistance for asylum seekers, saying the organisation was 'funding an assault on western countries and their borders'.
However, Trump's bad luck started before his speech began, just moments after he and wife Melania arrived at the UN headquarters and were making their way to the important meeting.
Footage shows the escalator appearing to break down the exact moment the POTUS and First Lady stepped onto it, making for very unfortunate timing.
In a video, he can be seen telling the UN Deputy Secretary General, Amina J. Mohammed: "The escalator just broke down… with us in the middle of it."

He added: "All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle.
"If the First Lady wasn't in great shape, she would have fallen, but she's in great shape."
And the misfortune didn't end there, as Trump realised the teleprompter was not working as he took to the podium to address the room.
Keeping composed, he jokingly said: "I don't mind making this speech without a teleprompter - because the teleprompter is not working. I feel very happy to be up here with you nevertheless and that way you speak more from the heart."

Trump added: "I can only say that whoever is operating this teleprompter is in big trouble," which earned a laugh from the room.

Of course, the internet loves a good conspiracy theory, and people are now convinced that someone is running around causing mischief in the UN.
One Twitter user joked: "Must be the guy running the escalator."

A second questioned: "From escalator to teleprompter, is this coincidence?"
A third penned: "First the escalator now the teleprompter. These bozos playing games with Trump today."
Meanwhile, a fourth person wrote: "Escalator broke, teleprompter broke, hmmmm."
Another chimed in with: "That’s two reasons to leave the UN."

And someone else agreed: "First the escalator doesn’t work, then the teleprompter doesn’t work. WTF? Coincidence, I don’t think so."
Trump made light of the situation and later joked: "These are two things I got from the United Nations, a bad escalator and a bad teleprompter. Thank you very much. And by the way, it's working now."
And it's not the first time Trump has been critical of UNHQ, as back in 2012 he famously criticised the 'cheap' tiles which he admitted 'bothered him'.
He posted on social media at the time: "The cheap 12 inch sq. marble tiles behind speaker at UN always bothered me. I will replace with beautiful large marble slabs if they ask me."
