Elon Musk throws shade at Trump bill calling it a 'disgusting abomination' after leaving DOGE role

This is far from the first time the 53-year-old billionaire called out the 'big, beautiful bill'

Elon Musk has quite blatantly thrown a whole load of shade at Donald Trump's new bill calling it a 'disgusting abomination' after leaving his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) role.

In his role, which he departed from last week (29 May), the 53-year-old billionaire led the firing of thousands of federal employees and shuttering of federal departments as he sought to rid Washington of 'waste and fraud.'

Musk's status as a 'special government employee' meant that he could only serve for a maximum of 130 days, which would have ended around 30 May.

In one of his latest social media statements, Musk hit out at the 78-year-old Republican leader's signature tax and spending bill, which has been famously described by the president as a 'big, beautiful bill.'

The bill, which was passed by the House Republicans in May, includes multi-trillion-dollar tax breaks and more defence spending, while also allowing the US government to borrow more money.

Taking to X on Tuesday (3 June), Musk confessed: "I’m sorry, but I just can’t stand it anymore.

"This massive, outrageous, pork-filled Congressional spending bill is a disgusting abomination."

"Shame on those who voted for it: you know you did wrong," Musk slammed. "You know it."

In American politics, 'pork' refers to spending on projects in lawmakers' constituencies.

It would appear as if the White House wasn't too fussed with such comments, with press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, declaring in a press conference on Tuesday that they did not surprise Trump.

She claimed that 'the president already knows where Elon Musk stood on this bill.'

"This is one, big, beautiful bill," Leavitt went on. "And he's sticking to it."

The same day, the White House asked Congress to cut back $9.4 billion in already approved spending, taking money away from DOGE.

"It will massively increase the already gigantic budget deficit to $2.5 trillion (!!!!) and burden American citizens with crushingly unsustainable debt," Musk tweeted at the time.

He also went as far as to suggest voting out politicians who advanced the president's tax bill, writing in another X post: "In November next year, we fire all politicians who betrayed the American people."

This isn't the first time Musk has criticised the bill as, during an interview with CBS on Tuesday, Musk said: "I was disappointed to see the massive spending bill, frankly, which increases the budget deficit, not just decreases it, and undermines the work that the DOGE team is doing.

"I think a bill can be big or it can be beautiful, but I don't know if it can be both. My personal opinion."
