The family of an eight-month-old baby have shared a heartbreaking photo from the final hours of her life after she was struck by a car outside a hospital.

Mabli Cariad Hall was being put into her pushchair by her dad, Rob, outside Withybush Hospital in Wales when a driver in a BMW struck both her and another pedestrian.

The young girl sustained severe injuries as a result of the incident, including an injury to the head. She was transported to Bristol Children's Hospital, and a fundraiser was set up to help her parents, Rob and Gwen, cover the cost of travel and accommodation while staying close to their daughter.

Four days after the incident, Mabli sadly passed away from severe brain injuries.

News of her death was shared in an update on the GoFundMe page run by friend Sinead Morris, which explained: "Unfortunately, these injuries were too severe to be reversed.

"Despite days of immense strength from Mabli, she peacefully crossed over the rainbow bridge in the loving arms of Gwen and Rob in the early hours of Sunday, June 25, 2023."

On Friday (21 July), exactly one month after the car accident took place, another update was posted to the fundraiser to show 'the reality of what Mabli’s parents, siblings, grandparents & close loved ones had to see' in the period before her death.

A post alongside the image explained Sinead and those close to Mabli's family 'want to do everything [they] can' to support them following their loss.

"As people who care about them in every way possible, our focus is to do what we can to support in anyway," Sinead wrote.

The post explained Mabli's mother was still on maternity leave when the accident took place, and though she and Rob have 'extremely good jobs', working is their 'last priority' at the moment.

"With 5 of Mabli’s siblings relying on them & bills not stopping, I’m sure you can empathise that things are going to be a worry & very very tough," Sinead wrote.

"I really need support in raising more money for them. Rob can not under any circumstances return to work yet, he has witnessed things no one can ever imagine.

"If you could please find it in your hearts to share this update, donate or suggest any ways that we can fundraise, I would be forever in your debt and will appreciate it greatly."

At the time of writing (26 July), more than £33,000 has been raised of the fundrasier's £50,000 target.

Police have launched a full investigation into the incident, with inquiries still ongoing.

As well as Mabli and the other pedestrian, other people injured in the crash included the driver of the BMW and a passenger.

Dyfed-Powys Police said the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both the pedestrian and the passenger were taken to hospital, but have since been discharged.
