Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has been making headlines with her frosty run-ins with US President Donald Trump at the G7 Summit in France.
And according to a body language expert, her viral ‘eye roll’ was a huge sign of ‘boredom and disrespect’.
The annual event, which took place in Évian, France, earlier this week, sees G7 countries meet to work together on major global issues such as peace and security, including the war in Ukraine, Russia, and the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
Videos that have gone viral on social media show Meloni, 49, asking where Trump was and commenting on the fact that he was 45 minutes late to one of the meetings.

When he finally does arrive, he is having a few issues with how to raise his chair at the table and smacked his hand on the table for help, causing an awkward camera cut to the Italian PM, who smirked and appeared to roll her eyes.

X users penned: “The eye roll and little smile from Meloni is EPIC!!!" and “Could almost hear Meloni's eyes roll."
It’s actually not the first time the politician’s facial expressions have given away her feelings, as at the 2025 Summit, she did the same thing.
Last year, Meloni was seen rolling her eyes again while the US President was speaking, as well as whispering in French President Emmanuel Macron’s ear.
Speaking to The Express at the time, body language expert Inbaal Honigman said: “Macron whispers something in her ear. Meloni raises her eyebrows, opens her eyes wide, and stares at him momentarily, which shows surprise, even disbelief. And then, we see a barely concealed eye roll.”
She added that the move, which Meloni repeated this year, suggests ‘boredom and disrespect’.
"Eye rolling would also indicate contempt. The Italian Prime Minister's facial expression is scornful and fed up,” Honigman said.
It comes after Meloni shared a video statement on Friday (19 June) responding to Trump’s claims that she 'begged' him for a picture together at this year’s meeting.
In a video translated by Reuters, the Italian PM said: "Donald Trump's statements are completely made up. I am frankly astonished. I don't know why the president of the United States behaves like this towards his allies: it is not the first time, moreover.
"I can only say it is disappointing that he does not show the same determination with the enemies of the West and of the United States, whose leaders he instead treats with far greater indulgence.”
She added: “There is one thing he should remember: neither I nor Italy ever beg."
