Relationship coach has message for any couples who wear pyjamas to bed

Ditch your flannels if you don't want your relationship to suffer

Your jammies could be killing your relationship, according to a relationship expert.

There’s nothing better than slipping into bed with your freshly washed flannels and settling in for a night of Zzzs, but could this be ruining your connection?

Maybe.

According to Channa Bromley, a relationship coach, your PJs are not hot enough.

“Comfort kills urgency,” Bromley told Newsweek.

She explained that wearing your comfies to bed will kill your sex life as it’s setting the tone for the night, and signalling that you’re not up for it.

She said: “They are not just nightwear.

“They are a signal. When someone trades in seduction for a fleece onesie, they are not prioritizing attraction. They are prioritizing ease.”

To her, ‘that shift’, subtle as it seems, 'seeps into every part of a relationship.’

I’m not going to lie, I’d rather sleep in a onesie or PJs than in my birthday suit or in a seductive outfit…I mean, I’m trying to sleep, am I not? I’m not trying to seduce.

Anyway, romance researchers found that sleeping in the nude is better than sleeping in PJs as it allegedly makes your relationship happier.

Cotton USA’s survey found that 57 per cent of couples who sleep naked were happier than 48 per cent of those who sleep in PJs, and 43 per cent of those who snooze in their onesies.

Avocado Green Mattress’s poll also found that those sleeping in their birthday suits were ‘positively impacted’ and were able to get it on more.

But it’s not just about sex.

According to Kecia Gaither, an OB/GYN, it’s beneficial for your health.

She explained to The Post: “Sleeping naked may contribute to better hormonal regulation, including the production of sleep-related hormones like melatonin.”

She shared that the hormone boost could also switch up your metabolism and burn more calories as you sleep.

However, if you’re not one to get down and naked between the sheets, Bromley suggests wearing something that allows for tension as you sleep next to your partner.

She said: “Attraction thrives on friction. It needs tension. It needs contrast. It needs the subtle pull of desire against restraint.

“Comfortable pajamas strip that away. They erase the visual cues that ignite attraction and replace them with something softer. Something safer.”

If you’re really struggling with the idea of changing your clothes, she said that you can still get it on, you just need to be mindful of whether you’re ‘still seeing each other as lovers or if they have stopped seeing each other at all’ beneath the layers of blankets and fleece.

All in all, you can always choose to pick each other’s clothing for bed or turn it into a game.

Hell, you can even play strip poker before bed and see who ends up wearing less as punishment.

Whatever you choose to wear, or not to wear, is up to you.
