We're just hours away from the year 2026 - but did you know this New Year's Day is said to be more than special than most?

January 1st is when most of us kickstart our New Year's resolutions, whether that's cutting out junk food, getting more sleep, or spending more time with friends and family.

It's also a powerful time of year for manifesting, with some people even making vision boards to represent what they want the next 12 months to look like.

Not to mention those who are scoffing down 12 grapes as the clock strikes midnight in order to find love the next year. But as we say, January 1st 2026 is believed to be a particularly magical opportunity, known as the '1/1 Manifestation Portal'.

This is because it's the first time January 1st has fallen on 1/1/1 in years - I know what you're thinking, what on Earth are we talking about?

While the date will be 1/1/26, speaking in terms of numerology, it's actually the rare alignment of 1/1/1. Let's break it down.

So, we reduce the year’s digits by adding all of the numbers in 2026 together, which gives us 10 because 2+0+2+6=10.

Then, we add those numbers together, so 1+0=1, which leaves us with one or 1/1/1 - a triple-one sequence for the month, day, and year. Make sense yet?

This specific phenomenon signals the start of a new nine-year numerological cycle, which is an event that last occurred in 2017 and will not happen again until 2035.

Those of us who are spiritual and believe in manifestation also see this day as a very powerful one as it's a 'portal day,' according to Medium.

The website describes it as 'a cosmic reset so potent that what you set in motion on this day will ripple through the entire decade ahead'.

Medium explain that in numerology, portal days occur when the numbers in dates align in significant patterns, creating a 'cosmic gateway' or 'a moment when the energetic field is more receptive, more malleable, more responsive to intention'.

The publication adds: "Think of it like this: every day has a baseline level of manifestation potential. But portal days? They’re like the universe turning up the volume. Your intentions land harder. Your energy moves faster. The gap between thought and manifestation narrows."

In simple terms, if you manifest on this day, it's more likely to come true, or so people say.

If you're unfamiliar and have no idea what we're talking about, manifesting is basically the idea that, through the power of belief, we can effectively 'think' a goal into becoming reality.

Similar to the law of attraction, some people write down what they want to happen, others say it out loud, and some people simply visualise it.

If you've ever wanted to give it a try, it looks like tomorrow is your best bet - Good luck!
