2026 starts on 1/1/1 for first time in years - here’s the rare meaning behind it

2025 has officially ended, and as we enter the new year, there is a special meaning behind the alignment of 2026.
If you’re into your manifestation practices, then today is the day for you to grab your crystals, vision board, and intentions.
While most will be beginning their New Year's resolutions, where they cut out bad food, or improve their sleep, you’ll know it’s the perfect time of year for manifesting.
If you don’t know what manifesting is, it’s the practice of setting out how you want your life to look like, through thoughts, affirmations to yourself, writing it down, or creating a board of images that is placed somewhere you see often.

Manifesting is great at any time of the year, but January 1st 2026 is believed to be the best time to get started as it’s supposedly the '1/1 Manifestation Portal'- the best time to manifest.
This is because, for the first time in years, our New Year falls on 1/1/1.
Okay, so I know the date is actually 1/1/26, but when it comes to numerology, we’re talking about the alignment.
How you find the alignment of the day is by adding all of the numbers in 2026 together, which gives us 10.
Then, we add those numbers together (1+0) and this brings us to one, or 1/1/1 if we tack it on the end of today’s date.
Numerologist Novalee Wilder revealed to USA TODAY that this sequence has a specific meaning tied to how the rest of the year should look.
She explained that one is an Angel Number which signifies ‘new beginnings’.
"One is new beginnings, the start of things, creation," Wilder said.
An Angel Number is a term that explores the theory that certain numbers have celestial meanings, and if you see the numbers often, then you’re being watched over by an Angel who wants to give you guidance or an opportunity.
She went on to add that it signifies self-confidence and is centred around ego, making you more prone to accept good things coming your way.
"One energy is like 'I'm connected to myself,' or just the universe," said Wilder. "It's a green light. Go. The road is clear."
So, if you keep seeing 111 in every-day life, it might be a sign that this year is going to send you something exciting that you need to be available to accept into your life.
When it comes to relationships, the expert shares that 111 means you need to stop overthinking things and take a chance.
"What are you waiting for?" said Wilder. "You were asking for whatever sign and a sign showed up."
As for your career, she explained that it’s all about making sure you’re heard and speaking up for yourself, as 111 has the zodiac sign Leo as its backing.
Leo’s (such as moi) are said to be confident and strong, and a tendency to do things their own way.
So, Wilder says to use this energy for your work.
When it comes to the Angel Number, she also says that 111 signifies giving yourself ‘permission’ to focus on yourself, even when you might not be used to doing so.
"Sometimes we don't spend enough time focusing on ourselves, or it's a confused focus.
"We are not really focusing on the inside — the mental space, how we're treating our body. We're not really taking care of us."
"If you don't think you're enough, then whatever is on the outside, it's never going to satisfy you," said Wilder, adding that focusing on social media can skew your progress. "A more flashy, more curated feed, it's just never going to be enough. So, you always need to come home from the inside."
