Thriller fans have been hailing an ‘amazing’ Anne Hathaway film as both ‘wild’ and filled with ‘twists and turns’ after it premiered on Netflix.

It’s undeniably a glorious year for cinema, what with the previous releases of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Zendaya’s Challengers and The Bikeriders, as well as upcoming flicks Gladiator II and Babygirl to look forward to.

Another film that premiered on the silver screen earlier this year is an unsettling psychological drama set in suburban 60s America.

Starring Anne Hathaway as Céline Jennings and Jessica Chastain as her next-door neighbour Alice Bradford, the film chronicles the aftermath of Céline’s son Max (played by Baylen D. Bielitz) devastatingly falling to his death.

Following Max’s accident, Céline begins to develop a close bond with Alice’s son Theo (Eamon O'Connell), which quickly drives Alice into madness.

Believing that her best friend is gaslighting her, Alice confides in her husband Simon (Anders Danielsen Lie) that she believes Céline murdered his mother Granny Jean (Caroline Lagerfelt), before later snooping around her friends’ house for clues.

The final act sees Alice and Céline coming to blows, with only one parent reigning supreme.

Just months after getting the big screen treatment, the Benoît Delhomme-directed offering, titled Mothers’ Instinct, is already being served on Netflix.

And it’s safe to say subscribers are obsessed with the project which is based on the 2018 French-language film and subsequent novel of the same name.

If your interest is piqued, then check out the engrossing trailer for the nail-biting film below:

At the time of writing, Mothers’ Instinct is currently the third most-watched film on Netflix right now, and judging by the reaction of fans, it’s not hard to see why.

Taking to social media to have their say, one viewer typed: “Watching Mothers Instinct on Netflix and wow Anne Hathaway is something else amazing.”

A second commented: “Mothers Instinct is another Netflix gem.”

Another remarked: “Mother’s Instinct on Netflix? 100/100 wow.”

A fourth fan wrote: “Mothers Instinct on Netflix is a wild wild movie. Whatt.”

Someone else said: “Also watched Mothers’ Instincts on Netflix… good too … twists and turns.”

A final user echoed: “Mothers Instinct on Netflix is proper! I need a part 2 though, because there is no way they can be the end. I need justice.”

Mothers’ Instinct has a run time of one hour 34 minutes and is available to stream on Netflix now.
