Real meaning behind title of new Netflix series leaves viewers in disbelief after 'hilarious' scene gives it away

People are calling one scene in particular absolutely 'absurd'

There's a brand-new series that's just landed on Netflix last week (21 August) and it's clearly sending people absolutely west.

The Spanish drama, which stars Griselda's Alberto Guerra, follows a community dealing with the aftermath of an extremely unexpected tragedy.

And, after rattling through all 10 episodes, fans have now discovered the real meaning behind title of the new series which has left viewers in disbelief after one 'hilarious' scene gave it away.

Things take a turn for the Santa Cruz community when couple Daniela and Emiliano throw a birthday party for their young boy, Rodrigo.

Things start off smoothly with the weather following suit when, all of a sudden, the wind unexpectedly picks up, leading to a horrific accident where the bouncy castle actually flies away, resulting in the deaths of three children.

As they deal with the aftermath, the parents throw blame around at themselves and others while the community grapples with who’s really at fault for the horrific accident.

If you hadn't already guessed it, the series is none other than The Accident and -despite its tragic plot - viewers are finding one scene absolutely side-splitting.

Check out the official trailer here:

One person took to X writing: "Just laughed so hard I cried because I just started the 2nd most popular show on Netflix called The Accident and they spend 20 mins building up to the tragic event which is that at a kids birthday party it got really windy and a bounce house full of kids flew away."

A second chimed in: "It's even funnier than I could have imagined."

"This is genuinely fantastic parody of disaster movies... god I hope that's what they were going for," piped up a third.

A fourth penned: "LOL! I just watched this yesterday and when this happened I was just thinking, wtf did I just watch."

"It's even funnier than I could have imagined," joked a fifth while another echoed: "This is a masterclass in how you shouldn’t add drama to something that is already absurd, because it’ll only make it seem more absurd."

And a final X user added: "Genuinely made me almost throw up my food from the intense laughter I let out… Let me go stream."

Well, it seems the plot of the series is no laughing matter.

Yep, as unbelievable as it may seem, bouncy castles can and have flown away before with the American Meteorological Society reporting that wind-related bouncy house accidents have caused at least 28 deaths and 479 injuries between 2000 and 2021.

The Accident is currently available to stream on Netflix.
