Love Island UK star Ellie might have left show for reason completely different to what viewers initially thought

It's always a shame when one of your favourites leave a show, and many fans have been left disappointed after it was revealed Ellie Chadwick had left the show.

The Scottish real estate manager's departure was first reported by The Sun, and viewers didn't want to believe it at first.

A popular contestant as fans loved her sense of style, Ellie had previously been partnered up with Finley Maddock and all seemed to be going well.

The couple were firm favourites to win Love Island UK, so it was a shock then when his head was turned by a bombshell, Elicia Bailey.

Elicia initially picked Finley during a re-coupling, stealing him from Ellie, but Finley insisted he would stay loyal.

That lasted all of five minutes though when he shared a steamy kiss with Elicia on their very first double date.

Fans assumed Ellie's departure was because of this betrayal, but all might not be as it seems on the surface.

On Wednesday's episode, Maya Jama returned to the villa for the couples to play a brutal game.

Called 'If You Know, You Know,' the game saw the couples blindfolded and given headphones and standing on a podium.

They were each given a card with a strong statement on and were asked to anonymously choose a couple, or islander, who matched the statement.

Kavan Murphy and Jasmine Muller received the statement "One half of this couple is secretly bored but too polite to admit it."

Kavan confidently named Ellie and Finley, revealing that Finley had told all of the boys that he was 'a bit bored' of Ellie.

This came as a shock after he had been grovelling with Ellie just the night before in an attempt to crawl back from having his head turned.

He insisted he only wanted her, and fans now think that finding out about this comment is actually what caused Ellie to leave.

Until now, viewers had suspected Finley would be dumped from the Island, with Ellie leaving in solidarity, but now they think she's had enough.

One viewer wrote: "So is this how Ellie ends up leaving Love Island."

Another added: "Ahhh now | seee why Ellie went home, I would have as well this boy has no respect."

Someone else agreed: "This why Ellie leaves if they guess it right or she feels Fin's talking behind her back #loveisland #loveislanduk."

Other Islanders slammed Finley as a 'walking red flag' following the comment, but Ellie appeared cool and calm on the surface despite it all.

Fans will have to wait and see what reason she gives for her shock departure.
