It's always a shame when one of your favourites leave a show, and many fans have been left disappointed after it was revealed Ellie Chadwick had exited the Love Island villa.
The Scottish real estate manager's departure was first reported by The Sun, and viewers didn't want to believe it.
A popular contestant, as fans loved her sense of style (and handbags), Ellie had been partnered up with Finley Maddock and all seemed to be going well.
The couple were among the firm favourites to win Love Island UK, so it was a shock then when his head was turned by bombshell Elicia Bailey.

Elicia initially picked Finley during a re-coupling, stealing him from Ellie, but Finley insisted he would stay loyal.
That seemingly lasted all of five minutes though, when he shared a steamy kiss with Elicia on a double date with Priya Jaswal and Ethan Ellis.

Fans assumed Ellie's departure was because of this betrayal, but all might not be as it seems on the surface.
On Wednesday's (15 July) episode, Maya Jama returned to the villa for the couples to play a brutal game.
Called 'If You Know, You Know,' it saw the islanders blindfolded and given headphones and standing on a podium.
They were each given a card with a strong statement on and were asked to anonymously choose a couple, or islander, who matched the statement.
Kavan Murphy and Jasmine Muller received the statement: "One half of this couple is secretly bored but too polite to admit it."
Kavan confidently named Ellie and Finley, revealing that Finley had told all of the boys that he was 'a bit bored' of Ellie.
This came as a shock after he had been grovelling with Ellie just the night before in an attempt to crawl back from having his head turned.
He insisted he only wanted her, and fans now think that finding out about this comment is actually what caused Ellie to leave.
Until now, viewers had suspected Finley would be dumped from the villa, with Ellie leaving in solidarity, but now they think she's had enough.
One wrote: "So is this how Ellie ends up leaving Love Island."

Another added: "Ahhh now | seee why Ellie went home, I would have as well this boy has no respect."
Someone else agreed: "This why Ellie leaves if they guess it right or she feels Fin's talking behind her back #loveisland #loveislanduk."
Fans will have to wait and see what reason she gives for her shock departure...
Shortest Love Island UK stints
We’ve seen hundreds of Love Island contestants grace our screens over the 13 seasons that have aired since 2015, some more fleeting than others. Here are some of the shortest appearances in Love Island history…
Shannon Singh - three days
Many had high hopes when season seven contestant Shannon entered the villa back in 2021, as she quickly became a fan favourite and coupled up with Aaron Francis.
However, that quickly came crashing down when none other than Chloe Burrows rocked up and was tasked to pick a boy to recouple with.
Chloe ended up choosing Aaron, leading to Shannon being brutally dumped on day three.
Chuggs Wallis - two days

Season two bombshell Chuggs joined the show on day four alongside Liam Reardon. He failed to recouple with any of the girls and then Rachel Finni chose Brad McClelland over him, resulting in Chuggs being sent home.
Despite this, he managed to make an appearance on Love Island: All Stars in 2025, however, he was dumped after seven days.
Georgia Townend - two days

Georgia, another season seven star, stepped into the villa on day 23 and had her eyes set on Hugo Hammond.
Unfortunately, there was no connection between them, which led to her being booted off after a couple of days.
Ben Porter and Poppy Farnan - one day

If you cast your mind all the way back to season one then you might remember Ben and Poppy’s short but sweet time on Love Island.
They arrived not long before the season ended, failing to make a mark on the fellow islanders and ultimately getting dumped after less than 24 hours.
Oliver Maxwell Fernandez - one day

Perhaps one of the least memorable Love Island contestants of all time is season two’s Oliver.
He arrived at the villa on day 30 but after failing to turn any heads, the girls sent him packing just a day later.
Malia Arkian - less than a day
While Malia takes the crown for the shortest time on Love Island, her appearance is certainly one to remember.
In season two, she entered the villa on day seven, taking Scott Thomas on a date. However, the move didn’t sit well with Kady McDermott, who was coupled up with Scott.
The pair ended up coming to blows when Malia accused Kady of spilling a drink on her, leading to one of the most explosive moments in the show’s history and Malia’s swift removal from the villa.
