Love Island UK star Lorenzo’s mum shares real reason he refuses to make a girl coffee in villa
Lorenzo's mother has revealed why he protested against making his Love Island partner Julia a morning coffee.
One of Love Island’s unofficial traditions is the boys making coffee or breakfast for the girl they’re coupled up with each morning. It’s less a rule and more an example of the 'acts of service' love language that has become a familiar part of villa life because, after all, who doesn’t love waking up to a coffee made by someone else?
Viewers were recently asked to vote for their favourite couple, with Lorenzo and Julia coming out on top. However, one detail about their blossoming relationship has continued to leave fans confused.
Despite meeting in Casa Amor a few weeks ago, Lorenzo has never been seen making Julia a morning coffee, while the other boys in the villa have embraced the ritual with their partners.

Julia had asked if he would make her a coffee a number of times, explaining how small gestures like a caffeinated beverage mean a lot to her.
The mystery was addressed by host Maya Jama during Aftersun on Sunday (12 July), and luckily for viewers, Lorenzo's family were on hand to explain.
“Well, why do you think it’s been so long ‘til he’s made someone a coffee?” Maya asked.
“I'll let you answer that,” Lorenzo's dad Marco quickly responded, before gesturing to mum Alessia. “That's her fault.”
Alessia revealed that her son had made her a promise before entering the villa that he wouldn’t make coffee for anyone while on the show.
She explained: “He’s been watching it [Love Island] since he was a kid every year and he’d always be like, ‘I’ve never ever seen a girl make a coffee for a guy’.
“So it irritated him a bit. Not because he’s lazy or anything - he always makes me a tea or coffee, cleans the house. He’s very good like that, very domesticated.
“But to wind me up he said to me, ‘I promise that I’m not going to make anyone a coffee.’”
Lorenzo did eventually go back on his pledge and made Julia a coffee in Friday’s episode.
After being voted the top couple in the villa, Lorenzo and Julia were tasked with choosing which one of the show’s least popular couples would be sent home.
The three unlucky couples were Lola and Sean, Mica and Samraj, and Martha Rothwell and Jordon Wilson.
Julia and Lorenzo gave their decision a lot of thought before Lola and Sean were sent packing. The latter were one of the quickest couples in the show’s history to lock things off.
Lola and Julia had butted heads in recent episodes. The former wasn’t pleased about Julia sharing a few flirty exchanges with Sean and confronted her.

Kady McDermott and Malia Arkian - season two
While Malia takes the crown for the shortest stint on Love Island, it’s certainly one to remember.
In 2016, she entered the villa on day seven and took Scott Thomas on a date. However, the move didn’t sit well with Kady McDermott, who was coupled up with him.
The pair came to blows when Malia accused Kady of spilling a drink on her, leading to an explosive altercation, which resulted in Malia’s swift removal just hours after she arrived.
Maura Higgins and Tom Walker - season five
Maura had her sights set on bombshell Tom when he rocked up to the villa two weeks into the 2019 series.
However, it was quickly derailed after she selected him to spend a night in the Hideaway, as he blew his chances before they even got there.
Maura overheard Tom telling the boys, ‘it'll be interesting to see if she is all mouth or not’, and the comment went down exactly as you’d expect.
Amid a whole bunch of (understandable) f-bombs, she revoked her invite and the pair never really recovered from it.
Jonny Mitchell and Theo Campbell - season three
Perhaps one of the show’s most iconic clashes, Jonny and Theo butted heads back in 2017 over a love triangle with Tyla Carr.
It came to a head during a tense recoupling when new boy Theo decided to pick Tyla, who was happily coupled up with Jonny.
The shock move resulted in Jonny calling Theo a ‘gigantic b*****d’ before they squared up to each other. Theo hilariously also branded his rival a ‘tuna melt’.
While the two eventually made up, Theo couldn’t help but throw one last dig when Tyla was in tears as Jonny was dumped, saying: “I think if Tyla really liked him she should go as well really.”
Anna Vakili and Jordan Hames - season five
Not long after Jordan asked Anna to be his girlfriend, he confessed to fellow islander Curtis Pritchard that his head had been turned by bombshell India Reynolds.
Anna soon found out and confronted Jordan in an explosive row, shouting: “What kind of guy asks a girl to be their girlfriend and two days later they crack on with another f***ing girl.”
She immediately called time on their relationship and the pair were soon dumped by the public.
Amy Hart and Curtis Pritchard - season five
The pair were initially considered one of the strongest couples of the 2019 series (which seems to have been full of drama); however, that all came crashing down after the infamous Casa Amor.
Even though Curtis came back to the villa alone, he admitted that his head had been turned by Jourdan Riane and couldn’t promise Amy that it wouldn’t happen again.
She called him a ‘compulsive liar’ and was left heartbroken, eventually deciding to leave the villa to protect her mental health.
