Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes’ daughter Suri has made a huge change to her identity and dropped her father’s surname.
The 20-year-old was born in April 2006 to the celebrity couple, six years before they parted ways.
Cruise also shares two more adult children with his ex-wife Nicole Kidman, Connor, 31, and Isabella, 33, whom they welcomed via adoption.
The news of Suri’s name change was first broken by Page Six, as well as identified in voter registration documents obtained by PEOPLE Magazine.

She has officially dropped the surname Cruise and is instead going by Suri Noelle, which is her mother’s maiden name.
Suri, who is believed to be estranged from her father, registered to vote in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, during her freshman year at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in October 2024, under the new name.
However, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard of the 20-year-old’s new moniker, as she first debuted it months before this, for her high school graduation in June 2024.
Speaking to Town&Country in August 2024, Holmes praised her daughter’s accomplishments and gushed over how ‘proud’ she was.
She told the publication: “I’m proud of my daughter. Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I’m really proud of her, and I’m happy.”
Holmes added: “I remember being this age, this time of beginnings. It’s exciting to learn about yourself, and I loved that time, so it makes me happy to think about it like that.”
In December 2024, Holmes also took to Instagram to publicly shut down the claim that her daughter had inherited a millionaire trust fund from her dad when she turned 18.
She posted a screenshot of a Daily Mail article, branding it ‘completely false’.
In 2023, Holmes also opened up on how she feels protective over her daughter.
The actress told Glamour: "What has been really important for me with my daughter, because she was so visible at a young age, is I really like to protect her.
"I'm very grateful to be a parent, to be her parent. She's an incredible person."
The mother-daughter duo even work together for films, with Suri singing ‘Blue Moon’ during the opening credits of her 2022 movie, Alone Together, as well as Rare Objects.
“I hope she always does something on my films. I always ask her,” Holmes said, “But both of those experiences came out of the same sense of what I love about our industry, which is, you have these projects, and you become a family with people. And it’s this safe, beautiful, creative space.”
She gushed: “So it comes out of love for me to include someone who I love dearly. That’s how I like to work. I like to have that kind of feeling. It was very meaningful to me to have her there, because she’s my heart.”
