Selena Gomez is reflecting on her life post-breakup and how she felt during the initial stages of dating her fiancé.
The ‘Lose You to Love Me’ singer is engaged to music producer Benny Blanco, and together they released a collaborative album this year titled I Said I Love You First which is inspired by their love story.
They started dating in 2023 but they had been friends for years and even worked together on music before their joint album. Prior to this relationship, the Wizards of Waverly Place star dated Justin Bieber on-and-off between 2010 and 2018.

During a recent interview on Jessie and Lennie Ware’s podcast Table Manners, the singer shared the details about the first kiss she and Benny had. “I hadn’t liked anyone in a very long time,” she divulged.
“So some kisses are for fun, and then when you feel something behind a kiss, it’s completely different. And I’d been alone for about five years, with the exception of a few shitty dates here and there, but never felt that way. And I was a little embarrassed.”
Selena and Justin reportedly broke up for the final time in March 2018 after they reunited in October 2017 after Selena broke up with The Weeknd.
Months after his final breakup with Selena, Justin proposed to and married his wife Hailey Bieber and now they are parents to a son named Jack.
The Only Murders in the Building Star previously addressed how she felt regarding the relationship’s last conclusion in her Apple TV+ documentary My Mind & Me.
“I felt haunted by a past relationship that no one wanted to let go of. But then I just moved past it. I wasn’t afraid anymore.”
Ever since Selena and Benny announced their engagement in December last year, fans all over have been waiting with anticipation for the enamoured couple to confirm details about their big day.
While we may not know all the ins and outs about the occasion, they have confirmed their plans to do away with a pretty major wedding tradition for a relatable reason.
During the same Table Manners episode, Selena discussed the prospect of having a ‘first dance’ at their reception, explaining: “I don’t think we’re looking at having one of those 'cause they’re a little... I feel embarrassed.”
Benny then chimed in: "She’s shy."
However, the Rare Beauty founder did share that she would be having a 'special dance' with her grandfather on her mother’s side and opened up about the touching significance behind the decision
"He never got a chance to walk my mum down the aisle. Because, good for my mum, she decided to go to [Las] Vegas and be like, 'Whoo,' and she’s still been with [my father] ever since they were like 26," she said.
"So it’s very cute that they did that, but I wanted to give [my grandfather] the opportunity to have that."
