Macaulay Culkin in talks for Home Alone reboot but it’s sparking heated debate
It’s happening, guys - get your hot chocolate and Christmas pyjamas ready because a Home Alone reboot could be coming.
And not only that, rumour has it that Kevin McCallister could be making his grand return, as Macaulay Culkin is supposedly in talks with Disney to take part.
As reported by Discussing Film, the news was revealed on the latest episode of The Town With Matthew Beloni podcast, where the host revealed that Disney and Culkin had a meeting about the actor reprising the role that made him famous.
He claimed that the studio is ‘extremely eager to make this happen’ and sees Culkin's involvement as a ‘major draw’ for fans.

This latest development excitingly comes less than a year after the actor revealed what his pitch would be for a follow-up movie.
He said during his A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin tour that the idea would be that he’s ‘either a widower or a divorcee’.
Culkin explained: “I’m raising a kid and all that stuff. I’m working really hard, and I’m not really paying enough attention, and the kid is kind of getting miffed at me, and then I get locked out.
“[Kevin’s son] won’t let me in… and he’s the one setting traps for me.”
He added that ‘the house is some sort of metaphor for our relationship’.
Nothing’s been confirmed yet, of course, and this is just an idea of Culkin’s, so the plotline of the reboot could be entirely different - we’ll have to wait and see!
Culkin shot to fame in the 1990 cult classic Christmas movie, before returning for the second in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York in 1992, which made him the highest-earning child star at the time at 12 years old, taking home $4.5 million.
Fans have been rushing to social media to react to the sequel news - and opinions are divided.
One X user questioned, “What role will he play, some grandpa? It's been quite a while,” while a second joked, “He should play the weird old man with pigeons part. He’d be perfect.”
A third wrote: “If Macaulay Culkin comes back, they better make it a proper sequel... not another reboot.”
A fourth brutally chimed in with: “Hollyweird running outta ideas,” and a fifth lamented: “Why? Unless John Williams is doing the score and Chris Columbus is directing, leave Kevin McCallister in the 90s.”
“Without Catherine O’Hara, why bother?” asked another, while someone else pointed out: “Remember the original chaos; it set a high bar. Hope any revival respects the cheeky spirit, not just cash.”
Meanwhile, some excited fans began to throw their ideas around about what the plot could be, and what exactly little Kevin would be up to in 2026.
One person guessed: “He should be a successful engineer as an adult. His home is invaded by a group of criminals, and to protect his family, he decides to play a little game…”
