A Glee reboot is officially happening, and it’s safe to say that fans are going crazy.
The musical comedy-drama TV series, created by Ryan Murphy, became an instant hit when it first hit screens in 2009, continuing until 2015.
It followed a group of high school students who were members of the New Directions glee club as they navigated issues around relationships, family, sexuality, and teamwork.
And, after years of begging, it’s finally back! The exciting news of a reboot was confirmed by Disney and Hulu via the show's social media team on Wednesday (21 October).

The good news doesn’t stop there, as Variety has also confirmed via sources that Lea Michele is expected to be returning as Rachel Berry.
One source told the outlet: “She’s in,” while a second added: “It’s still early-ish days, but it feels good and we’re happy to get the band back together.”
Meanwhile, other original castmates have confirmed their return - Heather Morris, who plays Brittany Pierce, and Chord Overstreet, who plays Sam Evans.

Last month, Ryan Murphy told Entertainment Tonight: "I just finished the script an hour ago. So, we have a script. Brad [Falchuk], Ian [Brennan] and I, who wrote all the first two seasons, have written something.
"I’ve been in touch with around 10 of the original cast members. It’s very sweet, and they all had a lot of questions, but they all were very enthusiastic about the idea. Nobody’s read it, so we’ll see.”
He added: “I vowed to myself that I wanted to write a couple of them to see what people think, particularly the cast, because we were very close when we were making it.”
While fans have been celebrating the show’s revival, some viewers have expressed concern over what the reboot could look like in 2026 - to be specific, Millennials don’t want it to get Gen Z-ified.
One X user demanded: “If they're actually doing this, I need them to be fearless and unafraid of cancel culture, I don't want high schoolers' Gen Z humor, glee was unhinged and unserious and it's what made it iconic, please keep dark humor alive.”

While a second agreed: “No, genuinely, if I see people doing clock app dances and vertical videos I’m going to scream.”
A third wrote: “You just know how much TikTok social media stuff gonna be in it smh.”
Meanwhile, a fourth and fifth chimed in with: “def don’t want the Gen Z humor. As a Gen Z myself” and “Iike please dont turn this into the Gossip Girl reboot.”
A sixth questioned: “And when Glee does a TikTok edits episode, then what?”
The hit series, which saw the cast perform renditions of songs, was positively received by critics and drew in millions of viewers; however, the audience did decline in later seasons.
Just weeks before the reboot was announced, Michele told E! News: “I love Glee. I will always love Glee. I love Ryan Murphy. It just holds such a special place in my heart for me… I will follow Ryan wherever he goes.”
