How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days is to get a sequel, and film bosses probably weren't anticipating the strength of the reaction this news has generated (and not in a good way).
The 2003 classic rom-com, starring Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey, is still hugely adored.
People still want that yellow dress from the movie, too.
Variety revealed the news that a follow-up movie is on the way, with Hudson set to produce it, but it's reported that both she and McConaughey will be reprising their roles.

The cinema is awash with sequels and remakes: Toy Story 5, Scary Movie, The Devil Wears Prada 2, Moana, and Practical Magic 2 is due out any day now.
The Y2K nostalgia is real and it's raking in the big bucks for movie bosses, but this latest announcement has sparked a frustrated backlash on social media.

"Enough with nostalgia. It’s not working!" insisted one.
"Why is there sequels of everything??" demanded another, adding: "Like genuinely, everyday seems like a new sequel is announced and especially of movies that are one and done!"
"I understand we’re in a literacy crisis but jesus christ we can’t come up with new movies?" they fumed.
Another exclaimed: "Can we just stop honestly??? NO MORE SEQUELS. NO REMAKES. NO MORE LIVE-ACTIONS. NO PREQUELS. MAKE NEW MOVIES GEEEZ."
"They can’t come up with any ideas that’s why," wrote one sadly.
One optimistic fan added: "I loved this movie back then. I don't know about a sequel, but it might work if both Kate Hudson & Matthew McConaughey are on board with a GOOD script."
"I wonder what they'll call it though. How to Lose a Guy in 20 Years?" they quipped.
"Literally no one asked, can they leave these movies alone and make something new?" demanded another.
"How Not to Have an Original Idea After 23 Years" joked one critic.
However, there were still a few people at least who were happy about the news.

"Honestly, a proper rom-com revival with the original cast is the only acceptable legacy sequel we actually need right now," one commenter wrote.
"Now this is a sequel I can be excited about!" another excited viewer added.
The original film grossed nearly $180 million worldwide, on a reported $50 million budget.
It still has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 77 percent even today.
McConaughey recently spoke out in praise of the film, calling it the 'favourite rom-com' he's ever done.
He told the Happy Sad Confused podcast: "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is the gift that keeps on giving, I think it’s probably my favourite romcom I’ve done.”
The star said he also receives the best residuals for it too: “And it still pays the best mailbox money of any film I’ve ever done. By far. By lengths.”
It was reliable, too: “When it used to be just DVDs or cable, every March I’d get a big check because Valentine’s Day.”
“The movie for me, for that genre, let me just own that genre. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days … that’s a real anchor in the rom-com genre through time,” he insisted.
Back in 2024 Hudson also told Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live that she was potentially up for the sequel: “All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I would be into the script. I think we’re both totally open but it’s just never happened.”
