It's that time of year again when we all engage in a proper nostalgic movie marathon as we count down the days until Christmas Day.
Whether it's The Holiday, The Grinch, The Polar Express, Nativity! and, of course, Love Actually - you can bet your bottom dollar that a whole bunch of people across the globe will be cosying up to their favourite festive flicks as we inch our way closer to December.
And high up on everyone's list is none other than the hit 1992 family-comedy, Home Alone, starring a fresh-faced Macaulay Culkin - who recently celebrated the 35th anniversary of the box-office smash-hit - as eight-year-old Kevin McCallister.

However, it seems like Kevin may not have been the only kid left behind in his family's sprawling residence when they picked up and left him for a trip to Paris after spotting a hard-to-catch mistake.
Now, fans of the franchise will know exactly how Kevin got left behind in the first place, and it was all down to cousin Heather's dodgy headcount.
She did the headcount outside the family's airport buses before they all left. However, what she failed to take into account was one nosy neighbour who was rummaging through the family's belongings in the bus before being accidentally counted in Kevin’s place.

She then walks down the line counting heads while Kevin's pesky big brother, Buzz, shouts out random numbers to distract her, leading to Heather counting herself twice during the process - patting her own head for both number three and number 11.

Mum Kate then finally gets into the bus and asks if everyone is accounted for, to which Heather snarkily replies with the famous quote: "11, including me. Five boys, six girls, four parents, two drivers, and a partridge in a pear tree."
However, the maths still isn't mathing because if 11 children is the correct headcount and she counted herself twice, which other child was also left behind on her watch?

Even after all these years, it seems some hawk-eyed Home Alone fans still haven't let it go, with some chalking it up to a simple continuity error while others seemed far less understanding.
"It makes me think there's another McCallister kid frozen under a bush somewhere that they didn't even realise," penned one Reddit user.
Another piped up: "She misses Linnie. So she's wrong in 3 different ways."
Did you ever catch the headcount mishap?
