Fans are rushing to defend Barbie star Margot Robbie after cruel comments aimed towards her appearance have surfaced.

Widely regarded as one of the most beautiful women in the world, 34-year-old Margot is currently expecting her first child.

The Aussie actress married her husband Tom Ackerley in 2016 after meeting him on the set of Suite Française three years earlier.

Margot's legion of adoring fans were overjoyed when news of her pregnancy began to spread in July.

Since the news broke, Margot has dressed in various bump-revealing outfits, and been spotted cradling her bump alongside her husband at Wimbledon.

Paparazzi shots of pregnant Margot on holiday went viral recently, with many people taking note of the fact the actress is positively glowing.

Despite this, some cruel trolls have chosen instead to attack the mum-to-be.

One Instagram user, Bree Lenehan, who promotes self love and body positivity, has drawn attention to the disgusting comments.

They include: "It’s like watching your favourite pub burn down”, “The b*****d who ruined her should pay”, and “This proves that anyone can become ugly."

Bree went on to add: "These comments enraged me… Not only as a pregnant girly myself, but also just as a decent human being who has had the privilege of being born thanks to my mother carrying me and bringing me to life.

"The human body isn’t supposed to look just one way…

"Why do we expect it to?"

She went on to add: "Not that Margot should even have photos of herself exposed to the world without her knowledge or say so, but she looks absolutely AMAZING!!!!"

Of course, we agree, and so did many fans.

One person wrote: "Those comments about Margot are disgusting. Literally how dare they. She looks absolutely STUNNING."

A second said: "Ahhh the patriarchy at its finest huh. That is so awful what people are saying about her. Proof that making the Barbie movie was so damn important and needed. These bigots."

A third added: "They’re so mad. So mad that our LITERAL LIVES and bodies are not meant to serve THEM. We don’t play by those rules anymore."

In an interview with The Times back in June, Tom opened up on his dynamic with wife Margot, noting that they spend '24 hours a day' together.

He shared some insight into how the two balance business and pleasure, stating: "It’s seamless. We don’t have a toggle on, toggle off. It’s all become one thing.”
