Chappell Roan’s X-rated Grammys outfit sparks fiery debate after breaking the internet

The 'HOT TO GO!' singer turned heads on the rep carpet with her eye-catching look

Chappell Roan's Grammys dress has officially broken the internet.

The 68th Grammy Awards finally took place last night (Sunday 1 February) in Los Angeles and we're still digesting everything that happened.

The annual star-studded awards ceremony, which recognises outstanding achievements in music, was held at the Crypto.com Arena and featured a number of performances, stand-out speeches from winners, and eye-catching red carpet looks.

American Rapper Kendrick Lamar was the big winner of the night, taking home a whopping five awards awards, including Record of the Year and Best Rap Album.

Meanwhile, Bad Bunny bagged Album of the Year and British singer Olivia Dean was awarded Best New Artist.

As we say though, Chappell Roan has made headlines for a whole different reason - her very unique red carpet look.

While she was nominated in two categories, the American singer, 27, missed out on Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance for 'The Subway,' with the awards respectively going to Lamar and Lola Young instead.

However, her dress has divided opinion and got everyone around the world talking.

For the awards ceremony, Chappell, who we know isn't afraid of making a red carpet statement, stepped out wearing a dress that was literally hooked to her nipple rings.

That's right - the cowl neck of the burgundy Mugler dress hung from her nipple piercings and the gown, including a matching cape, covered the rest of her body in a translucent fabric.

Andrew Dahling, who helped to create the head-turning look, told Marie Claire: "We started with this very archival, full, bare moment. Once the tattoos came into play, everything became very medieval, but in a real way. It's still fantasy and something otherworldly, but grounded.

"There was so much going on - the tattoos, the prosthetic nipples, all of it, but overall we wanted everything to feel cohesive and really honour the dress and the medieval world we were living in. The glam came from that."

The X-rated dress sparked quite the divide online, with some fans deeming it inappropriate, and others absolutely loving the daring ensemble.

Taking to social media, Twitter users brutally penned: "So now it's ok to sexualize women" and "This is exactly what I want my four year old daughter watching on a Sunday evening."

A third wrote: "I don’t get why women are choosing this kind of 'style' or statement. I think it just looks gross."

However, others rushed to the 'Pink Pony Club' singer's defence, gushing about the 'beautiful' look.

Hitting back at the hate, one person sarcastically argued: "Never seen a boob before? Doesn’t take much to leave you speechless."

While others quipped: "Can’t stop looking at this!" and "Not that it matters, but her outfit is beautiful."

"CHAPPELL ROAN HAS US SPEECHLESS," wrote someone else, while another user penned: "Chappell roan looks stunning on the red carpet."

Meanwhile, someone else questioned: "You guys all love feminism until it's stuff like this though right?"

And other fans chimed in with: "Chappell Roan's look is *fire emoji*" and "Chappell Roan looks completely stunning wearing a nipple dress at the #GRAMMYs."

Tyla has contacted a representative of Chappell Roan for comment.
