Cameron Diaz says never washing her face keeps her looking young

Cameron Diaz says never washing her face keeps her looking young

Despite her glowing skin, The Mask actress admitted to rarely washing her face

Gone is the need for 10-step skincare routines as one Hollywood A-lister has revealed exactly what she does to keep her skin so radiant.

Charlie's Angels star Cameron Diaz has said that never washing her face helps to keep her looking so young and explained exactly why she skips out on the morning cleanse many of us have been incorporating into our routines for years now.

The 51-year-old came clean about her skincare hack on Michelle Visage’s podcast Rule Breakers, telling the listeners that she isn’t in a ‘place’ where she worries about skincare.

While most of us would admit to skipping the odd wash here and there, the actor’s naturally stunning skin has made us seriously consider stopping all together.

If you still aren’t sold though, you should listen to the reason behind Diaz’s decision.

Despite being considered one of the most beautiful women in the world, Diaz said she’d often struggled with self-love - due to the unrealistic beauty standards in Hollywood.

"I am absolutely a victim to all of the societal objectifications, you know, that women, and exploitations that women are subjected to," she told the Drag Race judge.

She added: "I have bought into all of them myself, you know, at certain times. It's hard not to. It's hard not to look at yourself and judge yourself against other markers of beauty."

Sick of the unrealistic expectations placed upon women and disillusioned with the film industry, the Something About Mary star largely left Hollywood behind her in 2014.

Having been in the spotlight for so long, the actor has finally been able to accept herself rather than worrying about her appearance – something she’s not done since being discovered at just 19-years-old.

"I'm just not in that place right now, like, where I put any energy," she told listeners.

Thankfully, the actress is in a better place now and after welcoming a little girl in 2019, Diaz says skincare is the least of her worries.

"I don't care. Literally, the last thing I think about on a daily basis," she admitted joyfully.

The mum-of-one said she literally does 'nothing' to her skin.

She even revealed how rarely she washes her face, saying: "I literally do nothing. I like never wash my face…. Twice a month, if I'm lucky, I'll be like, 'Oh, I better put this on. One time works, right?'"

"It's just a different time in my life now," she told the audience, adding: "Now, I'm here, and this is the most fulfilling thing that I've ever done in my life...It's just completely the best thing."

Whilst most of us won’t be tossing out the face wash just yet, skipping washing your face might actually have some benefits.

Magic Mike actress Salma Hayek recently admitted to not washing her face in the morning, after being told the beauty secret by her grandmother.

There even seems to be some scientific backing, with one TikTok creator praising the Latino actress for her sage advice.

London-based Dr Adel told users that not everyone need to wash every morning, as this can lead to drier skin – especially during cold months.

So maybe save yourself five minutes in the morning and skip that scrub.
