Travis Kelce just broke major record and it’s all thanks to Taylor Swift

As well as being a record-setting NFL star - helping the Kansas City Chiefs win not one, not two, but a staggering three Super Bowls - Travis Kelce this week made history for another reason.

It's not his impressive tight-end strength, however, nor his acting skills (oh yeah, he appeared in Ryan Murphy's comedy gore-fest Grotesquerie last year), that have set tongues wagging. Nope, it's his girlfriend.

For those in need of a reminder, 35-year-old Travis is lucky enough to be dating Grammy-winning, world-touring country/pop star, Taylor Swift, and has been since they first went public in 2023.

And whilst Swifties were initially overjoyed by the pair's super-loved up romance, concern sparked earlier this year after Taylor's Eras Tour came to an end and the Chiefs lost the 2025 Super Bowl, as they took a step back from the spotlight.

Thankfully, however, the big-name couple came back with a bang this week, with the 'Cruel Summer' hitmaker, 35, making an appearance on the New Heights podcast that Travis hosts with his brother, Jason.

Many awestruck fans seemingly couldn't grasp the reality of the collab as it was first teased over the weekend - especially given that Taylor isn't really one for magazine shoots, interviews with press or TV chats.

Not only this, but it was rumoured that the musician would be giving fans a first glimpse at her upcoming (and 13th) studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, that was also announced last week.

So, when the episode finally landed on Wednesday night (13 Aug), it's hardly a surprise that the internet was set ablaze.

So much so, that according to several sources (including PopBase), Taylor and Travis' joint episode becomes the podcast’s most-viewed YouTube video in just 12 hours, breaking a world record.

Commenting on the colossal achievement, one X (formerly Twitter) user gushed: "8.7M in 12 hours? That's what happens when two cultural powerhouses collide. The internet never stood a chance."

Another penned: "Tay never misses, that's just how the cookie crumbles."

Fuelled by album news, emotional authenticity, and the wholesome lens into their relationship, the loved-up episode certainly didn't disappoint devoted fans of the couple.

In their own words for the first time, Taylor revealed that they'd finally come face-to-face after used his podcast to publicly declare he wanted to date her, yet failed to meet her at her Eras Tour show at Arrowhead Stadium, his team's home stadium.

"It was such a wild, romantic gesture to just be like, ‘I want to date you'. But he never did any proper logistical planning," she explained. "[He thought] because he knows the elevator lady, that he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room.

"That’s how it works in 1973!"

Taylor then added: "This felt more like I was in an 80s John Hughes movie and he was just standing outside of my window with a boombox being like, 'I want to date you! Do you want to go on a date with me? I made you a friendship bracelet'.

"I was like, if this guy isn’t crazy – which is a big if – this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager."

Asked by Jason about scrutiny from fans and the media, Taylor confessed: "I don’t see a lot of things.

"I’ve been in the music industry for 20 years. It’s pretty hard to hurt my feelings at this point.”

Meanwhile, Travis added: "There’s still some wacko theories from the beginning that I was like, 'Oh no, how is she handling this'. The last thing I wanted to do was screw this up."

"It’s so much fun … I know there are only 12 bangers," he gushed over his girlfriend's upcoming release.

"It is a lot more upbeat and a lot more fun pop excitement. I think it’s a complete 180 from a lot of the songs on Tortured Poets, for sure."
