Questions have been raised regarding the Beckham family's fiery feud amid reports that David and Victoria Beckham's eldest son, Brooklyn, has issued his parents a cease and desist letter.
New reports that emerged today (9 Jan) allege that the 26-year-old can only be contacted by the former England legend and Spice Girl through lawyers. Brooklyn and his American actress wife, Nicola Peltz, are said to have been butting heads with his mother and father for some years.
The legal update comes weeks after Brooklyn's little brother Cruz revealed that the amateur chef had blocked his entire family, after shutting down speculation that David, 50, and Victoria, 51, had made the first move.
"My mum and dad would never unfollow their son. Let's get the facts right," 20-year-old Cruz told his Instagram followers, adding that their brother Romeo, 23, and sister Harper, had been subjected to the same treatment.

"They woke up blocked - as did I."
But where exactly did all this family tension come from? And why has it now resulted in legal action?
Why are the Beckhams fighting?
The rumour mill was first kicked into gear back in 2022, ahead of 30-year-old Nicola's wedding to Brooklyn, for which fashion designer Victoria was reportedly saddened by the choice of wedding dress.

Though the mother-of-four was said to have offered to design the own in question, Nicola ended up wearing Valentino Haute Couture to say 'I do' - a move that an insider said unfairly 'painted' her 'as a brat'.
In a statement that another source slammed as 'far from the truth', they told PEOPLE: "She'd gone to a ton of Victoria Beckham fashion shows and events in Victoria's clothing. She even wore Victoria Beckham to her Lola movie premiere."

This was far from the end of their fight, however, with Victoria allegedly 'ruining' the couple's first dance during the special day.

Apparently, the Beckhams' family's friend Marc Anthony got onstage during their reception, and announced, ‘The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up… Victoria Beckham!', after which the bride 'ran from the room crying'.
When it comes to why Brooklyn has been roped into the beef, the photographer was last year accused of covering up a 'Mama's Boy' tattoo with words Nicola had written in a note before they exchanged vows.
He and his wife had also failed to attend David's lavish 50th birthday bash last year, being spotted in London days before the event, but never showing up.
On top of this, they remained absent from celebrations for the sportsman's knighthood, which he received back in October. Brooklyn was also accused of further rubbing salt in the wound by telling wife Nicola on Instagram around the same time, 'I will always choose you'.

Why did Brooklyn block his family?
Apparently, Brooklyn's decision to block his parents and siblings on social media last month stemmed from mum Victoria 'liking' a video of his, in which the amateur chef teaches his followers how to properly cook a roast chicken.
According to The Sun, the entire fiasco display of affection was said to have rubbed her eldest up the wrong way, and apparently, it all became too much for him.

"It appears that Brooklyn has blocked them to show them that's it, this is final," another insider told The Mirror. "It is very clear that this is a sign of his complete estrangement from his family."
Seemingly rubbing salt into the wounds, over Christmas, Brooklyn shared a snap of his heavily-tattooed hands holding Nicola's over Christmas, captioned 'My everything' in an apparent message of defiance.

What does Brooklyn's cease and desist letter mean?
As per this week's update, however, their family's alleged estrangement developed from an emotional one to a legal one last year, after Brooklyn sought legal advice on the matter.
According to a source that spoke to The Sun this week, he issued a cease and desist letter to the big-name British A-listers, only to reach out to them through his legal representatives. The note also instructed David and Victoria not to tag their eldest, nor his wife, in any further social media posts.
For reference, a cease and desist letter is formal legal letter used to warn the receiver to stop engaging in specific activities that could be seen as impacting the sender's legal rights. The latter aspect of the demand also demands that the receiver abstain from breaching the boundaries in the future, setting out the possible consequences if this occurs.

While the most common uses of this legal letter involve cases of copyright infringement or cybersquatting, it also covers defamation, and both electronic and online social media platform communication amounting to harassment.
The insider explained: "Truly, people do not know the full facts of this heartbreaking tale, and think Brooklyn was just being truculent when he blocked his parents. The reality is that he issued them with a letter at the end of last summer, asking for any correspondence to go via lawyers only, and wanted to try and make amends privately not publicly."
They continued: "He felt his parents continued to ignore his wishes and kept mentioning him online instead of reaching out privately."
Of David and Victoria, the insider claimed the couple 'have simply tried to let their beloved eldest son know the door is always open, and that they still care'.
They added: "After this letter, they had no other physical means of reaching out to him so what were they to do?

"They of course feel utterly bemused and devastated by this latest turn of events. There is no malice from their part, only concern. But it is clear, if there is going to be any reconciliation, it will be away from prying eyes and must be done privately.
"That’s all anyone wants but, alas, seems a long, long way off given they are only now communicating through lawyers."
