After Brooklyn Beckham insisted in a scandalous social media statement that he 'doesn’t want to reconcile' with his 'controlling' parents just this week, a psychotherapist has spoken out.
For those who missed it, the 26-year-old took to Instagram last night (19 Jan), where he dropped a number of bombshells about ex-England star dad David, and former Spice Girl mum Victoria. Brooklyn began by claiming he's 'been silent for years' in an attempt to keep his family out of unfavourable headlines, but felt forced to speak out following 'continued' conversations between his parents and the media.
"Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed," he continued.

Among the allegations made about the A-list couple, were that Victoria, 51, has tried 'endlessly to ruin' his relationship with wife Nicola Peltz, including by pulling out of designing her 2022 wedding dress 'in the eleventh hour'.
Brooklyn also claimed she and David 'repeatedly' pressured their eldest son into signing away the rights to his name, which would 'have affected me, my wife, and our future children'.
"My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song," Brooklyn also claimed, adding that the fashion designer 'danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone'.
He also alleged that football legend David had refused to see him and Nicola, 30, when they tried to attend his 50th birthday party last year.

Lastly, Brooklyn slammed his parents for valuing 'public promotion and endorsements above all else', adding that 'Brand Beckham comes first'.
He concluded: "I have been controlled by my parents for most of my life. I grew up with overwhelming anxiety.

"For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared."

As we say, however, in light of Brooklyn's vow to cut off his mother and father for good, a trained psychotherapist has issued a vital plea.
Taking to social media, Harriet Shearsmith, who specialises in toxic families, estrangement and generational trauma. began by stating her awareness that 'a lot of you will have seen/heard' about Brooklyn's shock exposé.
"I want to remind you to be gentle and kind with yourself over the coming days," she addressed her followers directly, especially those who take an interest in celebrity gossip.
"We all know that when a famous family experiences ruptures, the media goes wild, which leads to endless commentary from people who have no experience of toxic family dynamics."

Shearsmith added that this includes 'people who don’t want the narrative they have of 'family', especially when it comes to their parents'.

"Even more so people who don’t want the idea they have of their fave celeb challenged."
Providing an insight into her own expertise, she supported Brooklyn’s decision to take a step away from his big-name brood, insisting it’s 'not selfish' to seek escape from potentially harmful environments.

"You don’t owe anyone a relationship unless YOU are THEIR parent," the expert spoke, giving advice to any of her followers who might be ‘trapped’ in similar.
"You aren’t 'petty' for speaking up," Shearsmith continued. "'Don’t air your dirty laundry' is the same phrase we used to use to encourage victims of domestic violence to be quiet and is straight out of the abuser’s playbook - silence enables abuse.
"You’re not less of a victim of abuse because of your social, economic, or cultural status."
Seemingly honing in on Brooklyn specifically once again, she added: "A rich kid can still be an abused kid, lads. People can adore the version of your parent they know and you can still have a fractured relationship with them."
LADBible Group has previously contacted the Beckhams for comment.
