Sam Asghari threatens to release ‘extraordinarily embarrassing’ information about Britney Spears
The alleged threat comes amid rumours that Asghari has filed for divorce from Spears
Britney Spears' husband Sam Asghari is threatening to release ‘extraordinarily embarrassing’ information about the singer in a bid to renegotiate their prenuptial agreement, according to a source familiar with the couple.
News of Asghari's alleged threat comes after reports emerged that Asghari had filed for divorce from Spears just over a year after they tied the knot in June 2022.
The couple have not yet spoken out on the reports themselves, but multiple sources confirmed to People on Wednesday (16 August) that the pair had decided to go their separate ways.

Now, a source has revealed to Page Six that Asghari is hoping to get more money following the split than was originally agreed in his prenup with Spears.
The insider claimed Asghari is 'attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid'.
“So that’s what Sam is focused on," they added.
It's unclear exactly what the 'embarrassing information' might relate to, or how much money Asghari allegedly wants to keep it secret.
Another source insisted to the publication that the parting would 'be respectful', saying Spears' team has 'protected' her and adding: “It’s blackmail and it’ll never happen."
In the lead up to their wedding last summer, Spears and Asghari signed a prenup agreement that Page Six revealed was in 'favour' of the singer.
The source claimed: “Any money she made before the wedding is protected."
However, TMZ reports that Asghari's lawyer, Neal Hersh, has included a clause in the divorce filing that reads: "[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.
"There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time."
Spears and Asghari married six years after they first met on the set of Spears' 'Slumber Party' music video in 2016.
Rumours that they may have been having marital issues began swirling earlier this year, though at the time Asghari's rep, Brandon Cohen, insisted that wasn't the case.
Addressing photos which showed the couple without their wedding rings, Cohen claimed Asghari had simply taken off his ring while filming a role for a movie. It's unclear what movie he was referring to.
Meanwhile, Spears has ignored the divorce rumours altogether as she's posted on Instagram today (17 August) with the news that she was 'buying a horse soon'.
"So many options it’s kinda hard !!!," she wrote alongside a snap of herself on horseback. "A horse called Sophie and another called Roar ??? I can’t make up my mind !!! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on ??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar."
