Britney Spears has set the record straight on whether she's adopted a baby or not, following her shock announcement on Sunday (13 July).
The 43-year-old hitmaker left fans confused and surprised after she seemingly told the world she had adopted a baby girl.
Alongside one of her signature dancing videos filmed on the porch of her LA home, Britney wrote a lengthy caption.
She penned: "I want to let you guys know I adopted a beautiful baby girl!!!," alongside three winking emojis.

The singer then added: "Her name is Lennon London Spears."
The pop musician also went on to seemingly disclose that she'd clothed her new daughter in an 'adorable dress', that supposedly says 'I'm NEW HERE' written across the front.
Fans were understandably confused by the sudden announcement as the news spread across social media.
However, a representative for Britney has today (15 July) clarified to Tyla that she was simply 'joking' and has not adopted a child.

It comes after Britney announced her initial plans to adopt a baby several months ago and shared a clip of herself (which has since been deleted) on Instagram, where she expressed her desire to become a mother again.
As per Entertainment Now, she previously wrote on her social media: "I’ve decided I’m going to adopt a baby girl !!!! I’m actually serious !!!"
So, when the new post came this week with the caption about adopting, fans thought the singer was being serious and rushed to congratulate her.

The 'Toxic' singer is already mum to two boys, 19-year-old Sean and 18-year-old Jayden, whom she shares with ex-husband Kevin Federline.
They both live in Hawaii with their 47-year-old father and his wife Victoria Prince, as well as their two young children, Peyton and Jordan.
Britney reunited with her youngest son, Jayden, back in December and said it was reportedly the first time she'd seen him in two years.
In the video accompanying yesterday's confusing announcement, the American star strutted her stuff in a pink bodysuit, black boots, and a matching black hat.

As well as the mention of 'adopting,' there was a lot to unpack in the caption, with Britney also talking about plans to move to Italy.
She signed off her post with: "I’ve decided to move to Italy," again, along with some winking emojis.
Britney's ex Federline gained custody of his sons after Britney's father, Jamie, placed her under a controversial conservatorship in 2008, after a judge deemed that she was no longer in a fit state to make decisions surrounding her own wellbeing.

In 2021 this legal arrangement came to an end following the success of the huge #FreeBritney campaign.
However, since her freedom, some fans have expressed worry for the star, often commenting on the 'erratic' nature of her dancing videos and pointing out her dishevelled hair and smudged eye make-up.
