Britney Spears' husband Sam Asghari has 'filed for divorce' after one year of marriage

Britney Spears' husband Sam Asghari has 'filed for divorce' after one year of marriage

They wed only in June last year, however it appears they want to go their separate ways.

Sam Asghari has 'filed for divorce' from Britney Spears.

Multiple outlets, including PEOPLE, ET Online and TMZ, have reported the actor and fitness model has officially lodged documents to end his marriage with the pop star.

They married in June last year and had been together for half a decade after meeting on the set of Spears' music video for 'Slumber Party'.

TMZ says Asghari is citing 'irreconcilable differences' for the split.

While it's understood that the two signed a very tight prenuptial agreement before they said 'I do' last year, it looks like there could be a big legal showdown ahead.

The outlet says Neal Hersh, Sam's lawyer, could be about to contest their assets.

He's reportedly written in the legal filing: "[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party.

"There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time."

Britney has been seen driving her car around Los Angeles and was spotted without her wedding ring, according to the Daily Mail.

There have been countless headlines reporting the two were splitting up, however the 41-year-old doesn't seem bothered by all that.

She's posted on Instagram something completely separate from the drama.

The pop star wrote: "Buying a horse soon !!! So many options it’s kinda hard !!! A horse called Sophie and another called Roar ???

"I can’t make up my mind !!! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on ??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar."

Tyla has reached out to Britney's representatives for comment.

It was only three months ago that Sam was hitting back at rumours that he and Britney were on the rocks.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Asghari wrote: "Ninety-nine percent of the time those are all clickbait [stories] for you to click and for them to make money, and that time is over."
