Britney Spears' ex-husband Sam Asghari reveals real reason for marriage breakdown
The A-list couple split after 14 months of marriage
It's been just over six months since Britney Spears and her husband Sam Asghari went their separate ways after 14 months of marriage.
Back in August, multiple outlets - including PEOPLE, ET Online and TMZ - reported that actor and fitness model Sam had officially lodged documents to end his marriage with the pop star, citing 'irreconcilable differences' as a reason for the divorce.
Sam, 29, married Britney, 41, in June 2022 with celebrations at her home in Thousand Oaks, California, with celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez and Drew Barrymore in attendance, but later called it quits after less than two years together.

The reasoning behind the couple's unexpected split was met with mass speculation, with it all happening prior to the October release of her tell-all memoir The Woman in Me - of which Asghari has shared his 'honest' opinion on.
And within weeks of their divorce being made final, a source claimed to Page Six that Sam was hoping to get more money from the settlement than was originally agreed in his prenup with the 'Baby, One More Time' singer.
The insider also claimed that he was 'attempting to negotiate concessions beyond his prenup and threatening to go public with extraordinarily embarrassing information about Britney unless he gets paid'.
Within days of this report, however, Sam released a statement on their split, claiming that he and Britney would 'hold onto the love and respect we have for each other'.
He added: "S**t happens. Asking for privacy seems rediculous [sic] so I will just ask for everyone including the media to be kind and thoughtful."
This week, however, after keeping a relatively low profile in recent weeks, Sam has finally shed some more light on what prompted their divorce.
Without going into hoards of detail, Sam implied that their split was significantly more amicable than news outlets first alleged.
Speaking to People magazine, he spoke highly of their romance: "It was a blessing to be able to share life with someone for a long time. And people grow apart and people move on."
He went on: "I've always hated people leaving a certain relationship — and at some point they told each other they love each other and they sat at the same table and ate food [together] — so I never understood when people part ways [and] they talk badly about each other."
Claiming he'd 'never' speak ill of his now-ex, Sam continued: "I had nothing but an amazing experience and a great life, and that's always going to be part of my life, a chapter of my life."
