Sam Asghari breaks his silence with statement after filing for divorce from Britney Spears

Sam Asghari has released a statement after filing for divorce from Britney Spears.

Asghari posted a message to his Instagram followers on Thursday (August 17) afternoon saying that he and Spears decided to 'end their journey together' after six years of 'love and commitment'.

"We will hold onto the love and respect we have for each other and I wish her the best always," Asghari wrote.

"S**t happens.

"Asking for privacy seems rediculous [sic] so I will just ask for everyone including the media to be kind and thoughtful."

According to NBC News, Asghari cited 'irreconcilable differences' in his petition to divorce the 41-year-old singer.

Britney hasn't commented on the divorce since news started spreading, however she has made a bizarre statement on something very unrelated.

The mum-of-two shared a snap of herself riding a horse on the beach, revealing that she’s planning on buying herself one.

Smiling in her bikini top and shorts, she wrote in the caption: “Buying a horse soon!!! So many options it’s kinda hard!!! A horse called Sophie and another called Roar???

“I can’t make up my mind!!! Should I join the camaraderie and put a pink cowboy hat on??? Either way I think I found my sweet spot with Roar!!!”

A little unrelated considering the gravity of what's happening in her life.

It’s been claimed that Britney and Sam had signed a pretty tight prenuptial agreement before they tied the knot last summer.

The ‘iron clad’ prenup is supposed to protect the ‘…Baby One More Time’ singer’s pre-marital assets. However, there could be a major legal showdown ahead.

According to the Daily Mail, alleged court documents show Sam is asking the star for spousal support and to cover his attorney fees.

TMZ also claim that, according to these court documents, Asghari's lawyer, Neal Hersh could contest their prenup.

"[Sam] has yet to determine the full nature and extent of the separate property assets and obligations of each party." the response reportedly said.

"There are various items of community and quasi-community assets and debts, the full nature and extent of which are unknown to [Sam] at this time."
