Sci-fi-horror hybrid V Wars has viewers claiming it's better than Ian Somerhalder's former blood-sucking series The Vampire Diaries since it landed on Netflix last week.
The ten-part drama is based on Jonathan Maberry's best-selling IDW graphic novel collection and follows scientist Dr Luther Swann and his best friend Michael Fayne as they face the evolving crisis of a deadly outbreak.
The mysterious outbreak "will fracture society into opposing factions, escalating to a future war between humans and vampires."
The official synopsis on Netflix reads: "Dr. Luther Swann enters a world of untold horror when a mysterious disease transforms his best friend, Michael Fayne, into a murderous predator who feeds on other humans.
"As the disease spreads and more people are transformed, society fractures into opposing camps pitting normal people against the growing number of these 'vampires'.
"Swann races against time to understand what's happening, while Fayne rises to become the powerful underground leader of the vampires."
Ian Somerhalder stars as Dr. Luther Swann (not actually a vampire this time round) while Adrian Holmes will play his best pal Michael Fayne.
Other stars appearing in the sci-fi horror include Smallville's Laura Vandervoort, Beyond's Jacky Lai, The Whispers star Kyle Breitkopf and Kimberly-Sue Murray of Crimson Peak fame.
Since its release last Thursday, Netflix viewers have been going wild over the fangtastic series and it's easy to draw similarities to Somerhalder's former show, where he starred as a vampire and then a vampire fighter.
And now many have raved about the series and claimed it's better than The CW's The Vampire Diaries.
Taking to Twitter, one fan wrote: "V wars is better than The Vampire Diaries".
"Didn't think Ian Somerhalder could get any better than he is in Vampire Diaries but yet V Wars is unrealllll," another penned.
A third wrote: "#vwars is truly fantastic.One of the best shows ever on netflix. Binge all 10 righy now. Do it!"(sic).
OK, OK, we'll watch it.
